580c steering trouble?

i have a 79 C and i have been roadin' it about 5 miles one way to do some work.....after about 4 miles the steering gets real jerky and stiff when i let off on the throttle to slow down.......the steering valve leaks a little fluid when cold the stop when warm....any ideas?
