Manitowoc Model Shop introduces 31000 scale model

8/16/10 Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA

The Manitowoc 31000, the largest Manitowoc crawler crane ever designed and built, will soon be captured in a replica model. The 1:50th scale model will arrive at CONEXPO 2011 next March.

The model replicates the innovative design and details of the crane, including the Variable Position Counterweight. Even at one-fiftieth of the size of the actual crane, the model will be the largest offered by Manitowoc. When fully assembled, the model height will peak at 2.5 meters, almost 100 inches.

Amanda Barbarossa, promotional program manager, said the new 31000 model is a highly anticipated addition to The Manitowoc Model Shop.

“We‘ve had a lot of success with our large crane models since the Manitowoc 18000 model came out in 2005,” she said. “Given its size and the new technology it includes, it is an exciting new model.”

Features include moving crawler tracks, full-rotation slewing, a detailed hook block, key-operated drums, a detailed cab interior and a fully functioning Variable Position Counterweight system with individual counterweights.

The Manitowoc 31000 model will be painted Manitowoc red and will be rigged with an 80m boom and 40m luffing jib at a 1:50 scale. Production is limited to 500 pieces, and each unit will retail for $1,800. Individuals interested in reserving a 31000 model should visit The Manitowoc Model Shop website at

I talked to a guy from TWH at the Manitowoc booth when they were displaying the 31000. He encouraged me to cancel my orders with manitowoc shop and place them with diecastmodels.co and we can use each other for a 100 dollar discount each on our 31000 orders, including yourself. Since I ordered two models I did what he said and he followed through. So if any one wants to create a pool of "references" for discounts let me know on here and we can use each others names for 100 dollars off each. Once again the models have to be purchased from diecastmodels.co though, they also have great deals and a weekly model give away and since they are TWH they have alot of 31000 photos.
