244j pushing snow, driving down the road, cleaning barns. Doesn’t seem to really matter when, I lose speed. Start the machine and about 30 seconds in I get a beep and e610d. I think that’s the you got problems base code. I’ll be using the machine and eventually it almost derates itself on speed. Usually the fan is just screaming away, the rpm is around 2200 or a little less and speed just drops out. It’s sluggish. Not always but sometimes I get a an e5035 code. Fnr. That I gotta trace wiring but I’m wondering if my hydrostatic relief opens up a bit. Not allowing full pressure to the stat. Turn the key off and fire it back up and runs great for a bit. I assume it’s a spring pressure valve. So pressure relief allows the valve to close back up. This was just a thought going thru my mind as I was pushing snow today. Don’t know if my description of the problem is good enough but hopefully someone can help guide me a little better. Reverse is the same. Not a lot of speed. Sluggish. Not that I’m trying to push snow backwards but you know what I mean. Engine without load runs about 2900. It’s over 8000 hrs on this so it is likely going to start causing more issues. It in all honesty needs a lot of work.

Also need to do articulate pivot. Done them on big tractors but not on these loaders. Not sure how much is involved if you just need to split them just far enough to get all the junk into the holes or not. Usually when they buck back and forth just replacing pins doesnt work and your into bushings and seals and the rest. The cost of a new machine we figure we can justify keeping fixing them because in all honesty for us and we do have a few, it’s well worth the money. When they work right they are brutes. You can beat on them pretty hard and they just keep asking for more. It is a learning curve for me on these but I’m starting to get more familiar with them all the time.

Thanks for any help

You sure it is not a E601D? E610D does not exist. E601D means the engine sent a code to the machine's CCU. Someone will have to plug into the engine controller to get the engine code. If your engine rpm is dropping, then you are having an issue in which the engine is being derated.

Usually the fan is just screaming away,
Temperature sensor issue? When there is an issue with a temperature sensor (engine or hydraulic), the fan defaults to the "scream:eek:" mode. An engine temperature issue will derate the engine.

I would worry about getting your derate issue and your FNR issue resolved first before worrying about travel speed. The travel speed may be related to the above issues.

Check your messages for the E5035 code.

Thank you for the message. The fan does go into that scream mode and then settles back down again. At that point I’m at a derate. But I have full rpm under a no load condition. Put it in neutral and 2900 rpm. I also find that when working pushing snow I seem to lack hydraulics overall. I’m assuming these things have DR ports and should test them. Which I guess I also need to buy gauges and adaptors. There is a bunch of these machines around here and 3 4 and 5 series loaders as well. I think somewhere in the range of 20 units. And yes it was a 601d. I was at home and couldn’t quite remember the code arrangement.

Just an FYI, double check the condition of the (2) rear axle rubber isolators mounted on the rear frame. Isolators in poor condition can give the operator the illusion of a bad articulation pivot. Screenshot below from the parts catalog.

If this machine is something you want to tackle yourself, then I highly recommend acquiring the
TM11214 - 244J 4WD LoaderOperation and Test Manual which can be purchased here. Do note, however, the engine will not be included in that manual. That is a separate manual (CTM101019).

Yeah I found out about tech info the other day. I knew about tech pubs for the ag side. What I want is the customer service advisor. But I don’t know what it’s like for Canada. I saw a website showing costs but it’s ludicrous money. I would rather purchase segments I need as opposed to now having to buy ag and construction just to cover both. Looking at close to 10 to start out. I miss working on the farm I did. My boss had a Deere ag dealership and things were a lot easier. That loader operation and test book I think I was looking but showed high and low serial for repairs but only low serial repair. I think. I’d have to look again. But yeah it likely is the direction to go. Having a guy plug in is getting expensive and my boss just got bought out my another dealer group so I’m not sure how this is going to work out for me as far as the old head mechanics are going to be leaving at the end of January.

A heavy duty scan tool should be able to at least get the engine codes. Do note, with the 244J, whether you are connecting a scan tool or Service Advisor, you MUST allow the instrument panel to complete the bulb check before plugging in the scan tool/EDL/Service Advisor into the diagnostic port or the CCU could get corrupted.
