I am not up to speed on this thread since the purchase but is this a common failure on a 520 hour machine?

Only with the leakage test. The debris, even non-metallic, is still concerning.

No, it is not common, but we have seen some HP pump failures on Yanmar's earlier than expected, but those were on skid steers. We move a lot of 75/85 size machines here in our area, I can only think of one HP pump replacement on those.
