Hello gentleman, We recently purchased this back hoe solid machine yesterday we noticed a metallic noise coming from the right rear hub we pulled the tire and noticed the grease fitting had been broken for some time. We installed a new one greased both wheels put it back together after awhile hydraulic fluid started seeping from hub.

We are going to take apart want to know if anyone has had one apart and give us some help on getting the axle out. Thanks for any replies Scott

Welcome to HEF catskillpond. :drinkup

If it's like most other tractor machines, the entire axle housing has to be removed from the transmission/differential housing. If it's like most other Deere tractor machines, once you get the housing off, there's a big hex head bolt that's installed with Loc-Tite that has to be removed to pull planetary gear carrier and continue with axle removal from housing.

Backhoe does not need to be removed to remove axle housing. Pull pin at front of brace bar and push up with a bottle jack and the housing can come out. Did it recently for our local county precinct on a 410B(?). Takes some finagling but can be done and is much easier than removing backhoe. The planetary bolt has a 12 point retainer that when removed, the bolt will zip out with an impact gun. Fix it NOW or look at replacing the planetary assembly($$$).

Yes, wrwtexan is correct in saying that a bottle jack will give the clearance required. It is a tight fit, but a heck of a lot easier than hoe removal. I was fortunate enough to get this little known tip from a fellow in Mass. many years ago when we had to replace some metal "things" in our old JD 410. I had dreaded the thought of hoe removal as it was a tad beyond my limited mechanical skills!:( An operator tried driving/turning machine with loaded front bucket and diff lock on - 410 didn't like that!
