1972 Jd 310 loader control valve repair

I'm am curious if anybody has rebuilt the spool valves on a John Deere 310 backhoe, I have am stumped on how to remove the caps off the end of the spool valve. I need to take the cap off so that I can disassemble the spool and replace the o-rings. Any advice would be great, thanks

Welcome to HEF Deere4430! That acorn cap should just come off to gain access to the set screw. Something's amiss?
