6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

Thanks for everyone's input, I ended up going with a 2011 D6N lgp. I figured this would fit my needs the best.

6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

Your right Welder Dave, I should have given more info, I just didn't think it was important since I was just wanting a comparison of the two machines for grading. Dealers are bias and don't have first hand knowledge like someone who has run both machines. I have always valued everyone's...

6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

My 6R has a semi u blade, not the best finishing blade. My question is, 6R with a pat blade machine compared to a 6n pat blade machine? Thanks

6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

Thanks Welder Dave. Ya, I already have a 6Rxw for heavier work. Maybe I could better ask why the R model was optioned with a vpat when the N with pat blade is available. Is it just a beefier machine for heavier work? Which machine is balanced better or nicer to grade with? Is the N better in...

6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

Ya, I'm a little over due to upgrade from the D4. Lgp is preferred for the softer conditions we get into, and stability working on slopes. More wear I understand but I'll give up a little more wear for the stability and floating.

6N lgp or 6R xw vpat

If you had a choice between a 6N lgp or a 6R xw vpat for grading in the mid west which one would you prefer, and why. Both are GPS ready when I decide to jump into that. Looking to upgrade from a D4H lgp, but keep the D4 for smaller projects. This may have been asked before but I couldn't find...

Who is seeing youth entering our world?

I agree with much what is said about the new electronic machines, cars, trucks, etc. I dislike them and tend to try to stay with mechanical machines that can be worked on and diagnosed without a laptop. I mainly dislike the lack of quality in the electronics of certain big brand manufactures and...

Who is seeing youth entering our world?

I haven't read all the previous posts because this problem is everywhere not just our industry and I hear it constantly. I'm a big fan of Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) and what he is trying to do. I think there are many reasons for this problem as have already been mentioned. My dream is to see a new...

    D7R and D7R XR Differences

Ya, I'm not liking the below 0° temps. Thanks Mark250 for the explanation of track configurations. I'm just wondering what to expect from the XR configuration vs. standard while dozing or if it would be noticeably different since it is for more of a drawbar advantage. Maybe I will have to hook...

    D7R and D7R XR Differences

I have not had it across a scale yet and I'm curious as well. All the info I can find says 55,000 lbs.

    D7R and D7R XR Differences

For those that have owned or ran both standard and extended frame D7R's what is the difference in them or is it so slight that there is minimal or no difference? Just bought a 7R with extended frame bare back to replace my 8H and I have not had a chance to run it yet.

    d6r tranny oil

A contractor friend told me of the time he had a IH 656 gas tractor and told the new guy to get a gas can and fill it up. Shortly after doing that the tractor ran out of gas. Found out the new guy topped of the radiator with the gas can. He didn't work for him much longer. Sadly I'm seeing and...

D8H engine oil pump failure, what to do?

Also the oil pump is not locked up and doesn't show signs of having been locked up unless ice had done it. No water came out when I cracked open the drain plug though. Water was in the front sump, but did it come in from rain or from the steam cleaning? It was very sludgy in front sump like it...

D8H engine oil pump failure, what to do?

I finally got around to pulling the pan and what I found was the bracket up front that the oil pump drive idler gear is mounted on had broke and then wedged the gear into the front cover. I'll need a bracket and idler gear and repair the front cover. I checked a rod bearing and they look great...

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

I removed floor plate to inspect suction line to the pump and decided I didn't have enough time today to dig into that spaghetti nest of hoses with the large suction line at bottom of it all. So I did take apart the quick drops, yep dead simple and in my opinion nearly bullet proof. Nothing...

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

Thanks for everyones input, I will check for any possible air leaks on suction side first as that sounds like a real possibility cause of the cavitating pump noise and foam in reservoir. If no luck there then I'll check the quick drop.

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

I have not had a chance to cut open filter yet. It was working fine for 2 days and then today the the problem showed up again. Not sure if its coincidence but the days that it worked fine it was working on fairly level ground and the days the problem has showed up was when working up and down...

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

When the problem occurs the blade lifts OK but that's when the pump is noisy, then is slow to lower and is slow in float and no noise from pump when lowering. It was run for 8hrs today and no issues today, it worked as it should. I have not changed anything since it ran last Friday when the...

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

The tilt works fine or normal when the problem occurs and has no effect on blade control or vise versa. The pump noise does sound like cavitation. I've never been into a quick drop, what does it consist of and what could be wrong or damaged. If I had a damage or bent cylinder I would imagine the...

D7G blade goes down slow when oil is warm

My D7G is having an issue where the blade goes down slow when the oil is warmed up, the blade works fine when the oil is cold. Also float will not work at that time and the pump is noisy when it is having this problem. Linkages are all fine and I replaced the oil filter. Its very frustrating to...
