Took the opportunity while the soil is moist to widen, re-grade and top my drive. Widened with a downhill pass with the backhoe. Then hooked up the box blade the cut a ditch and re-grade/retop with some fresh crusher.

    dented hydraulic cylinder barrel

Whelp, I ended up cutting a small radial section of 4" pipe to use as a sort of sanding block. Then with lots of elbow grease applied i used some emery cloth to work the hump down to the point where the piston and guides would pass without hanging up. Then polished my handy work and put it all...

    dented hydraulic cylinder barrel

These look to have potential. I like the fact that i would not have to force them down the bore. less likely to scratch. And I could use them for other things! I think my cylinder walls are also around a 1/4 inch thick. Thanks for the link

    dented hydraulic cylinder barrel

Yes the piston has a small flat where i assume it pushed past the dent the first few cycles. So im sure the wear bands were crushed from that. the seals seemed to just push past it.

    dented hydraulic cylinder barrel

I'm going to try the plug rout first. Ill fix it to a length of threaded rod so if it gets stuck i can thread a nut on and draw it out. then maybe a quick finish honing. Like Billrog said, Nothing to lose! I'll let you know how I make out.

    dented hydraulic cylinder barrel

So I tore into the job of repacking my leaky stabilizer cylinder this weekend and when removing the rod and piston, the old guide rings fell right off in pieces. First time Id seen that, figured they were just wore out and brittle. When I took a peek down the cylinder bore however I saw a ding...

    jcb backhoe hydrolic issues

You might be able to remove the shaft from underneath the machine? The pump from the front through the grill. you could raise the bucket with another machine if it is in float, but I would not recommend it.

JCB 1400B backhoe's hydraulic pump driveshaft replacement

If it is a Brown/Hayworth pump the yoke should have a key with a set screw securing it in place. The set screw has to be loosened in order to remove the yoke. The input shaft is in the back left here. You can see it has a keyway.

    What's your hoe doing?

iv had had a lot of what they call "bank run sand" delivered here. It appears to have a bit of clay in it I think as welll as small stones. It packs down nice, But not as solid as #2 mix. But I used some as a base to level out my barn floor before #2mix before i eventually poured a floor. We can...

    What's your hoe doing?

My hoe only has heat. But whenever I turn it on I get showered with leaves, seed husks, dust, and mouse droppings. So I usually just throw on a hoodie.
