    Heavy Equipment Operator School

I third, fourth, whatever, has been said. I wouldn’t hire a guy just out of “operator” school without real experience. It’s much better to start on the bottom rung and work your way up. When you try to start in the middle of the ladder, you never really understand what those lower rungs are...

    Advice on excavator trenching

I think you’re on the right track with a smaller mini excavator in the 2700lb - 4500lb class. You mentioned a Bobcat E10 which may be ok, but I’d also look at a Kubota U17 in a slightly larger size but still under 4000lbs. At that size I don’t think you’ll tear up too much tracking on yards (if...

Anyone know of a 20t hoe with a blade ?

Volvo has a ECR235DL that has an option for a blade (first picture on the cover of their brochure) but I imagine that option is very rare. You would have to talk to your dealer about special ordering. A 235 without a blade is around $180k.

    Champ CB40 info

Try Chamcor - it should be champlifts.com. But do it quick, I believe they are closing their doors soon. They should have some parts and manuals that they would be selling cheap, and they may know who else's would be a resource for a Champ

Anyone ever use a Multi-ripper bucket?

If I used one, it would be on a Komatsu PC400. What made this interesting, is that I don't have a quick-coupler on the machine. It would be nice to rip and clean with a single attachment. Interestingly enough, they make these buckets for all sizes - even down to mini excavators. A supplier I...

Anyone ever use a Multi-ripper bucket?

Like the title says - has anyone ever had first hand experience with a Multi-ripper bucket from Leading Edge Attachments? They have videos on their site, but most of the machines shown are huge - Hitachi EX1200 and Cat 385. Plus, without first person feedback, who knows how hard the rock is in...

Major Grading Contractors - East of the Mississippi

Walsh is huge. I believe they just bought out TJ Lambrecht as well. Archer Western is finishing up one of the largest light-rail projects in the country here in Dallas.

    track coming off hitachi ex60-5

I'll second Quicktrax as well. Lift the track in question and run it while it is off the ground. If the idler bushing is bad enough to throw the track you should see the idler moving or jumping back and forth.

    Iron Planet

First off, I'm a big fan of Ironplanet and have bought a few machines in their auction and also sold a couple. As far as equipment inspectors, the majority of the inspectors are independent contractors - most do not work directly for Ironplanet. There can be a variety in the quality level of...

How much do these things cost anyway?

Back in '06 it would have cost $165-170K around here. I imagine with the economy, it's probably still close to that now
