    Stumping in the Northeast

Ron, I'd have to agree with Rhino that a 200-300 series would work just fine. I've used a 200LC and a 330LC Deere without probs. however again it all depends on the size area, you might need to go a step up to 400 series but that is starting to get into some heavy digging.

    644c how good is it

The other thing you might need to look at to see about any slop in the upper and lower articulating pins. You don't want the holes that they go into oblonged. Repair is very costly. Another thing is to look at the driveshaft carrier bearing and the disc brake pads and disc.

    Carbide tipped blades

I think you are refering to carbide stinger bits or sandvik bits. I've used them machining gravel roads. He's looking for the blade sections that have a carbide edge that runs down the length of the blade section. We've used them on the graders during the winter pushing snow off hard surface...

    One Huge Boo Boo!

If I realized that there was already a thread on this horrific accident, I would have not wasted my time and re-posted it. Like I said in the thread that I started with this accident, a buddy of mine has e-mailed me the photos and story on it and I took it that it was recent. Sorry!:beatsme

    One Huge Boo Boo!

Crane Saga Continues Crane support outrigger punches through slab causing crane to lose balance and collapse across the site and onto adjoining property. Crane balanced in the air for approx 1 hour before entire rig & boom collapse completely across site.

    Carbide tipped blades

I ran carbide tipped blades when pushing snow on paved roads for VDOT. I believe they got them from Kennametal. http://www.kennametal.com Try there, I'm sure they have what ya need.

    heavy traffic

I can relate to that. When I was with VDOT in Virginia, 95% of the roads and highways and interstates where maintained by VDOT and still are. In the county that I was stationed at, had out of the 341 miles of road, 85 miles were gravel so being the only grader man stationed there kept me busy at...

    Cat,Volvo,or Deere

I think I would go back to the Deere 770CH. I can't speak about CAT cuz I never had the chance to operate one. The Deere has a much bigger set of balls when it came to heavy pushing verses the Volvo 720B. The Volvo is a nice machine if you do parking lots and driveways, but not a machine meant...

    plowing with grader

Ya it's been awhile..glad to be back..and I'd figured as much that every motor grader operater has done that in the snow areas

    plowing with grader

When I was with Virginia DOT, we had front mounted angle plows with 11ft blade on our graders. All our graders had front mount scarfiers and the plow mounted on that. They had no side wing attachment, the roads weren't that wide, maybe 15ft at the best and the primary roads 13ft per lane so you...

SPY Pics of the newly designed CAT 140M

We use the 710G and 720G Volvo Graders...my preference is still the Deere grader for power..and overall use...the Volvo's are ok for gravel road machining and doing some light ditch work...but no comparison with a Deere
