CTL or MTL, whats the difference?

Yeah, we judt revised a few of our latest projects to incorperate CTL for grading and grooming work. Will make life easier than trying to groom with a Mini-X. On that note, anyone know what the skinniest, still usable CTL is?

CTL or MTL, whats the difference?

Thats a good idea, thanks bigbob. The MTL track does look a tad grippier for doing wet/icey/snow work which is great in my case because 85% of the time our buisness is working with wet ground/mud, and sometimes we also work in thin snow.

After looking at the Ultimate Small/Medium Dozer threads on the Dozer forum, I wanted to explore the idea of what everyone wants in their equipment. So, the Ultimate Compact Track Loader, any ideas? Ill start, The choice of Radial or Vertical Lift on the same chassis.

    Vertical Lift or Radial Lift

Well, cat are pains in the arses anyway. They just removed both the Radial 239D and Vertical 249D from their lineups in australia. No info on wether they are bringing in a newer model (D2) so i guess i will have to wait. Also, after a furthur reasssesment of what we are working on and the sort...

Looking for a brand new mini

Hiya Diga, About the body work hanging over the tracks during rotation, i had a look at the specs and info for it and it says that the excavator should have no body hanging over the outside of the excavator. What model year was the one you were looking at? Thanks Billman

    Vertical Lift or Radial Lift

So digging is harder with a radial, same with loading, but mowing and grading are easier. Maybe i should get a mower for mowing.... Haha Thanks for the help though!

CTL or MTL, whats the difference?

Thanks for that, that article really was useful in figuring out what the main dofferences and pros and cons are. Also as you and many others said, it looks like a CTL is perfect for my job, especially because i dont want to have to replace the undercarriage of an MTL

Looking for a brand new mini

After re-reviewing my options ive but Kubota U series excacators back on my list. I went out and drove both the Cat 305.5E and the Kubota U55-4 and both perform really really well. I guess it will be down to parts/support/servicing and some furthur testing closer to purchase time. Thanks for...

True, true true. But if the dealer pisses me off id probably either find another one or do the servicing myself.

Hammer for a 5 ton excavator

What sort of excavator is it (zero turn, manufacturer)? Some manufacturers only reccomend you use their hammers, and some machines cant put through enough fluid to operate certain hammers. A good recommendation is any of the TNB/Kubota hammers or the Cat hammers. Used both on larger machines...

CTL or MTL, whats the difference?

Most of our work would involve moving dirt short distances and loading trucks with dirt/rock/gravel. A small percentage of it would also be using an angle broom to clean up areas after storms, brushcutter to clean up weeds and ****, and the occasional grading of a fire road. After checking...
