    What is this?

I called the dealer I bought the machine from before I posted this to ask for one. Salesman said it was behind the seat...it's not. Thanks for the clarification on that part.

    My first excavator

Thank you all. I ended up placing an order for a thumb from miniexcavatorthumbs.com After spending the cash on the machine, it left me a bit short to buy a nicer thumb. But this one may do just fine.

Picked up a 2012 JD 35D with a long arm and angle blade. It has 1476 hours on it. Ran it last night for a bit digging around a big Poplar stump. First thing I'm going to do is add a hydraulic thumb. Anyone have suggestions on where to buy that from? Already have a lead on a couple of buckets...

    looking for a mini x

I'm in the market for a used machine. Looking at something less then 10,000#. I'm finding some fair deals looking around on Craigslist and other pages so far. Within my price range (around 20k) I'm obviously finding a wide variety of machines of all conditions. I'm looking at staying with a...

    1984 JD Crawler 550A

He hired a local heavy equipment shop (komatsu dealer) to put the motor back in for him. That mechanic must have thought it had an internal regular because he initially said it was bad. I know it had a Field terminal on it and another, which he used to power a new hour meter for the engine.

That voltage is the same either way-battery hooked up or not hooked up. I don't remember a W terminal, but this machine doesn't have a tach.

    1984 JD Crawler 550A

I didnt see a spot on the back of his that looked like there would have been a regulator at all. So, it's obviously missing. I'm sure some needed an alternator and just picked one up not thinking about it.

    1984 JD Crawler 550A

I will get pictures tomorrow. It's a Motorola alternator. According to the service manual, it's suppose to have regulator made on, or bolted to, the back of the alternator. It was ran for a summer hooked up the way it was when I posted this today. We unhooked the charging wire so we could...

Neighbor and I are finishing up a rebuild on his machine. Got it running just fine, but looking through the manual we noticed we are missing the voltage regulator that appears to be mounted to the back of ther alternator, as well as the wiring harness for it. He bought this machine a few years...
