Best parts availability for larger excavators

Thank you. I have heard that Komatsu is well supported in our area.

Best parts availability for larger excavators

We are looking at buying a large excavator (80,000lb +) for clearing our land that has been logged. I know CAT is good about having (some) parts for older machines, but are their other brands that have decent parts support? The machine we buy will be pre DPF/DEF, hopefully 2002-2012 era. Thanks.

Are there any horror stories about newly purchased dozers, then break down?

If they go for scrap, I'm definitely buying one!

Well....no. Made my money treating people right and being honest!

Are there any horror stories about newly purchased dozers, then break down?

I might be adding a story to this thread. There are 2 local D9s, and I can't keep thinking for the right price, I should bring one home...

What does everyone think of women getting into wrenching on heavy equipment?

If you are qualified, you get the job. I have found that for detail oriented tasks, such as quality control or dealing with money, women have done better for me than men.

Which medium Excavator for personal use?

We bought a Case 210 for our farm. It has about 8000 HRS on it and is still a pretty tight machine. Having a Cummins 5.9 pretty much ensures we won't ever have any problem finding engine parts. Everything else, well I'm not sure how well Case supports 15+ year old equipment.

    oil pressure issue JD 650J

There is a good chance the gauge or sending unit is bad. If you are able to, I recommend installing a mechanical gauge and see if you get the same results as the factory one.

    Hunting Land Dozer

Be careful if you buy the 550C. Those are great machines but if they develop transmission problems you are looking at a real headache.

Angle Blade vs. Straight Blade on Mini Ex

I also have a KX-057 with an angle blade. I wouldn't be as productive without it, no doubt.

    Buying Equipment Online

Same as everyone else, no. That's just our opinion however. Pictures only let you see what the outside of the machine looks like. Checking fluids, starting, driving, etc can somewhat give you an idea of the insides.

What Size Hoe for Ranch Work

There's not one perfect size, that's for sure. We have a 6 ton and a 20 ton excavator. Both extremely useful for the intended projects. A 16K machine would be a nice size that would still be good for most everything.

Looking at JD 550H - First time buyer advice

You are correct about the final drives. Mine is leaking, so at some point I will tear into it. Just for giggles, I had broken tractor quote me a new one. $10K. I have the ability to rebuild, so I won't go that route.

Looking at JD 550H - First time buyer advice

I bought a G series machine for my property. The hydro's are nice, but I fear electronics and expensive pumps.

    650G lever steer

Did you get this machine back up and running? I'm always interested in learning about transmission issues/fixes.

    450G blade self aligning bearing

I know this is an older thread. I have dealt with broken tractor and they are great. I also replaced all of the pins and bushings on my dozer with OEM JD. The OEM bushings are made in China, not sure about the pins. Getting the bushings out of the main blade pivot that attaches to the C...

    Control valve leak

I just took the valve body out of my dozer and completely went thru. Really pretty easy. Yours looks similar. The orings that go between the sections were pretty cheap, I would suggest you put new ones in since you have it out.

Need advice on new work truck.

Stay away from the 6.4. The 6.0 can be made into a good motor, the 6.7 has a good reputation so far.
