IUOE members - can I file a grievance against an entire local?

I've been in construction for a while and know how things work. I also know how union apprenticeships work. These people lied, bottom line. I've been in contact with international about it, hopefully they will make some changes

IUOE members - can I file a grievance against an entire local?

No worries man, I understand where you were coming from. You don't know me, I don't know you, I'm sure you've heard some lies from people. I just have such a grudge against this place and trying to get some advice and then getting called a liar makes it even worse. Anyways, I don't care...

IUOE members - can I file a grievance against an entire local?

I don't know what makes you think you still aren't wrong after I just explained the situation, but here you go http://i.imgur.com/fC24I5M.jpg Local 370 http://www.iuoe.org/training/local-370-heavy-equipment-operator-training-school

IUOE members - can I file a grievance against an entire local?

You sound offended. Aren't you that guy that called "bullish!t" in my other thread and then I even private message you a picture of my contract? I know it must be hard or you to understand, so ill explain it to you again. Feel free to read as many times as possible if you want. I was...

IUOE members - can I file a grievance against an entire local?

Local 370 in Spokane, Washington. They charged me 4,000$ for the safety and orientation program. I was promised to go right to work, I moved across the country to be in this program. Turned out to be complete BS. A month and a half after the class and still not even close to going to work...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

Things must've changed then. At least where I'm located. I feel like this thing was a scam from the get go. There's no way they didn't know that work would be slow. Coincidentally they brought in the biggest class they have taken (which I now realize is because they were hurting for money...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

That was my initial plan but the IBEW here won't take anybody that hasn't been a resident for at least a year. That's why I went to the operators.

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

I paid the apprenticeship and training institute for my local. It's also the Place where all of the apprentices get hired out of. The journeyman out of work list is at the union hall and the apprentice out of work list is at the apprentice and training institute. Is it like that everywhere...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

I don't live in MD anymore. I'm not gonna say what local it is because id hate for someone from there to read this and give me a bad name. I don't have enough experience to buy a book and get on the D list as a journeyman. I'm excited to be an operator but I don't like how they BS'd me...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

That's why I'm pissed about this situation. I left the electrical union to do this. There the apprentices were first priority, they took in as many as would be hired. There were no out of work apprentices. Here it seems like they accepted everybody who applied jus for that 4,000$ check and...

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

Wtf why would I make up the 4,000$ charge?? Call shinanigans all you want. Journeymen also pitch in 60 cents an hour to the training site. And this program is through the union, not some Offshoot program promising a union job or whatever. You can't get into the apprenticeship without this class.

Got into IUOE apprenticeship. Already irritated.

So I got accepted into this apprenticeship. The first step is a 6 week safety and orientation class where you learn the basics on how to operate all of the equipment, once that is over you get put on the work list until your called. This class also cost 4,000$. At the interview they told me I...

    General questions about the trade

The area I'm moving to, the local requires you to be a resident for 1 year before you can be a member. Otherwise I would love to just transfer

    Operator or Mechanic?

Home life is very important to me, especially since I'll be having a child soon. So mechanics work longer hours generally? Thanks to everybody for replies

    General questions about the trade

I am currently an electrician with Local Union 26 on the east coast. My wife's entire family is in Idaho and Wahington and just found out she is pregnant so we are moving there in a couple months. My electrical company does all underground work so we use a lot of equipment and I'm looking into...

Just trying to get an idea of the pay scale in different regions

    Operator or Mechanic?

I was a combat vehicle mechanic/operator in the marines and I've been looking into an IUOE apprenticeship and from what I've gathered after speaking on the phone it looks extremely promising that I'll get in. I'm looking for tips/advice from mechanics or operators that wish they had gone the...

union electrician, want to move to heavy equipment! (help!)

I'll give that a shot. What exactly will the organizer do? Not really sure how I would approach them and what the possible outcomes could be.

union electrician, want to move to heavy equipment! (help!)

I'm looking into local 370 in Spokane. I'll be moving to coeur d'alene, ID in June. I received a call from somebody at the hall and unfortunately the apprenticeship class starts in April so I'm gonna miss that one. They said that because of my background I might be able to get right into the...
