Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

Unhooking the sender didn't silence the alarm. On the diagram, the temp light and timer ground paths + the buzzer connect at the node just above the water temp switch. It looks like either the sender or the timer can provide ground to both the light and the buzzer. I suspect that the relay...

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

I think that the relay is the path that's giving the ground contact to the temp light and buzzer. If the temperature switch was bad, unplugging the relay shouldn't silence the alarm. Should it?

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

Dumb question, what is the purpose of this timer? Is it just to light up the gauge panel and make noise when the ignition is first turned on?

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

I didn't think to check the other gauges. I was paying attention to the temperature light and the buzzer. If that's the timer, then it's on the wiring diagram. Seems to be set to kick on after about 20 minutes

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

Bswwood, I didn't unplug the gauges. I'm going to dig into it a little more tomorrow and try to trace where that black wire leads to. Did they add a temp sensor to the hydraulic circuit? Serial number is

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

John, thanks for that! I found his video where he diagnosed that same problem on his Yanmar. (He's a very knowledgeable guy, btw.) I got my hands on a service manual, but it doesn't cover the serial number on my machine. However, it's pretty close to what I have. The one difference that i...

Bobcat 331 Temperature / Coolant Alarm Gremlin

Hi all. I picked up an old Bobcat 331 last fall. It was neglected by its previous owner(s). I've gotten most of the bugs worked out of it and it's been earning its keep for the most part. However, there's one issue that I haven't figured out, yet. Once it gets up to working temperature...

A few projects I have done recently

CM, glad to see that you're keeping busy and still finding time to post. Love the pictures. The 305 is a great size of a machine. With the right combination of buckets, it's a great tool.

    $25k budget, looking for suggestions.

Since you've already got a budget in mind, it's really going to come down to what's for sale in your area. There are a number of ways to get a job done. Do you already own any equipment, tractors or trucks?

    Volvo Mini Excavator ....mechanical question

I had the same machine (2008). Slow start was typical when it was cold. More so if the fuel tank wasn't topped off. Check the fuel pick up inside the tank. A dried out hose or bad connection can allow air into the fuel lines. You should be able to hear the lift pump running when you...

    Employee pay question

If you have multiple people quitting at the same time, and they won't tell you why, pay rate is not the problem.

Rubber Vibration Isolators That Actually Last?

Urethane will last longer, but it's harder than rubber and doesn't absorb as much vibration.

Fastest Way to Clear a Small Area

If you have a case 930 with a decent bush hog, why rent something else? It might take longer, but not paying for rental equipment is worth something. Do you have any pictures of the 930?

    Kubota U17 Thumb Install

I'd be very surprised if a <2 ton mini requires running a return line back to the tank for a relief valve. I've never heard of anyone having to do that for a machine that size. I would investigate how the factory pressure relief functions on that circuit before spending any money on possibly...

    Nonsense threads????

This is true. I guess the question is, how many guys share photos in their first few posts? ....and at what point would adding more hurdles discourage new members from sharing?

    Nonsense threads????

Steve, it amazes me that the spam is worth anyone's time. I recently read an article about a setup in China where there were hundreds of android smartphones that were set up to be operated by 2 people. The sole purpose of this operation was to provide traffic and reviews to trip advisor. I'm...

    Nonsense threads????

I suspect that most of the spam threads are automated or at least partially automated. Generally they make no sense, but I haven't noticed spelling errors. Correct spelling + gibberish means that there's probably a text generator being used in there at some level. I have noticed more and...

A few projects I have done recently

CM, thanks for talking the time to share all of this. I sold my equipment last year and have been doing office work/project management for a maritime construction company for the last few months. I love being able to check in and see your earth work projects.
