I'm a fairly new backhoe contractor, seeking advice or ideas on...

the 4wd on my backhoe didn't seem to be kicking in, so I looked into it and the fuse that goes to it was popping everytime I replace the fuse and hit the switch. so that made renting a dozer a pretty easy decision

I looked at the road and it is steep, and rocky with sharp turns. Every bit as treacherous as I was expecting it to be. I only went about half way or so with the two wheel drive Highlander, with the baby in the car and getting dark so I need to go back up there with the dirt bike or something...

Moving 20' c-trains about 5 mi. up a steep dirt road with many tight turns. I havent looked at the specific route yet, but i know the area. My plan A at this point is to put the c-train on the backhoe trailer, but if that ain't happening i need a plan B. The truck needs a lot of turning room...

duck walking, what are the causes an what ways do you deal with it?

right now I am operating a 623. I run 627 and 637 as well, so i know what ur saying. My duck walking issue is happening when the dirt to dry or too wet. normally I like to cut in second but if I cut in first it's not so bad. dragging haul roads is the worst, is way too slow for that and...

duck walking, what are the causes an what ways do you deal with it?

I think all the sand is making it worse cuz i usually dont have a prob with it. Does using the diff lock while cutting help? Also i think if i turn the cab about half a pass over, then back it seems to stop it. I'm just asking to see if that makes any sense, or is it just in my head?

623 paddle scraper, no dust control(farm\ag. land)

ya, there is a drought. that's a good point. plus I'm mostly digging sumps, so once I get a few feet down, no more dust. Might even get too wet as they get deeper, lol. Thanks for the feedback. A water tank on the stinger would be pretty cool.

623 paddle scraper, no dust control(farm\ag. land)

Tinkerer, water in the cut can make it difficult for a scraper to get a load, but not often. when it is all about production, that the only way to go, if compaction required , the more water the scrapers can handle in the cut mean less watering and mixing in the fill, not to mention the...

623 paddle scraper, no dust control(farm\ag. land)

Bakersfield and they're a pain in the ass here too but they seem to leave the farmers alone. I'm doing a little better about not letting it get to me now, but the top two feet of dry dirt is the worse. I think the water truck avoids me when I need water the most , because he doesn't want to...
