Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Biodiesel is similar to regular diesel. The base ingredient of one being petroleum while the other vegetable oil. What they add in is often methanol and caustic lye which break down the animal fat in Waste Vegetable Oil(WVO). I do not know the process for making petrochemical diesel but I read...

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Hi Fletcher thanks for the reply. This is the kind of response I need because it gets down to what kind of engines might handle SVO best. The double tank method is probably necessary in cold weather but here in AZ I only need a block heater. Occasionally, on the coldest days I add HEET to the...

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Wow great response! Thank you! In line injection pumps may be the clue I was looking for.Seems like caution is warranted for rotary pumps. I would kill to know what you know brother. You have certainly got me wanted to know more. Thanks again for the very helpful response.

That sounds awesome. I wish I knew what vehicles can handle the vegetable oil. Thanks for the reply.

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Hi sorry for the delay, I have been working on a starter for my 49 Hough HF. I wish I could see the data on this experiment. The project seems to have been conclusive that it is safe at least for a "huge Clevland V8 diesel". I think the pre electronic vehicles seem safest but Utah Biodiesel has...

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Hi and thanks for the reply. I like hearing that it works because it stands to reason that it would. The viscosity in warm weather is probably the same for regular diesel. Cold weather spells trouble for all diesels, moreso for veggie oil. The cars that run Biodiesel generally have heated...

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Thanks for the insight. I do not know how often your friend changes his filters but that is imperative on Duramaxes anyway. No failures yet after a couple of years. I have on occasion ran a full tank of regular diesel through it just to clean out any impurities. In the winter I add HEAT to help...

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

It is waste vegetable oil filtered to 400 microns, heated ,settled and dewatered(Via heating). I never use dark oil as that has animal protein which is best processed out by making batches of biodiesel.

Pure vegetable in heavy equipment diesels

Hi I have a 1949 Hough HF payloader with a gas engine. I also have 1987 Case 850B Crawler Dozer with a diesel engine. Does anyone one know what diesel engines can handle pure vegetable oil and run well? I use pure filtered veggie oil in my 2002 Chevy 1 Ton Silverado with Duramax 6.6 engine and...

    The Ultimate Medium Dozer?

I have seen in other threads discussions concerning pure vegetable oil running diesel machinery. I wonder if any of the big manufacturers have seriously considered earth friendly/pocketbook friendly engines run on pure veggie oil? I run pure vegetable oil in my Duramax and have zero complaints...

    Case 850B Dozer Brakes

Thanks! I got this baby for 3k and it is well worth the maintainence so far. Cheers, Rhino

    The Ultimate Medium Dozer?

Autonomous equals robot? I am old school as far as machinery likes and dislikes. I see the value of technology but am too simple to catch on to circuit boards and complex wiring. Cameras seem pretty simply but I would rather drive and sweat and feel the rumble and scrape of my old dozer rather...

    The Ultimate Medium Dozer?

Brilliant idea. It would help like all the backup cameras and gadgets on the new autos. A CCTV that could take the pummeling may be a challenge? Brilliant!

    Case 850B Dozer Brakes

FYI, the entire brake system was a pain in the rectum but we survived and know the how to's if anyone needs advice... The first thing I did was take of the master cylinders and take them apart, clean them and put them back. I am a cheapskate and thought the old master cylinders would pass so I...

    Case 850B Brakes

I am pretty good at online research John. I restored a 1949 Hough HF browsing chatrooms, forums and online businesses. Turns out there are folks all over the country with NOS parts if you look hard enough. Cheers, Rhino

    Case 850B Brakes

Thanks welder Dave. I do not have extra cash to throw around thats all. Also, I am retired military so I can be patient. You are right about the parts paying for themselves if the machine is running. I just had to buy parts for my Dodge so the budget is spent for parts this month,,,unless I can...

    Case 850B Brakes

Hi Welder Dave, My experience so far is that if Case has it for a certain price and I look hard enough I get the part for a 5th of what they are asking. I am saving my pennies for the grandkids so ever penny pinched is worth it. I see similar products by Case/IH for $20.00. All the parts I have...

    Case 850B Brakes

I have a 1980 Case 850B Dozer up on 8 RR ties. I have been working on it outside off and on all winter and love the beast! Been fixing hydraulic leaks with new seals(output shaft, filter housings, low pressure hoses and control rod). Had to do the control rod seal so off came the housing; so I...
