OK, can anyone help diagnose this?

That would surprise me, because the head looks to be the freshest thing on this old gal. :-)

    Case 855d

Yes Sir the pinhole in the oil pan is a common problem, and it happened to me too (multiple holes). I actually used JB weld successfully on it for many many years......

OK, can anyone help diagnose this?

Thx Sir, good advice. I guess I'll crack the lines to isolate; lack of compression would be worst case scenario in a machine this old. What really throws me is the sparks/flames; haven't seen that before (or maybe I just didn't notice).

OK, can anyone help diagnose this?

Just tried it and it worked for me Sir. Yes, I've run it a long time with no change. Have thought about taking injectors in for cleaning/adjustment/evaluation.....

    Case 855d

I have the exact same machine; you can find a thread on it here. Currently looking for a good running takeout 6T590 engine for it, or will go thru the current one (lasted a few years, but now smoking thru the crankcase vent). Have really gotten a lot of mileage out of it....

OK, can anyone help diagnose this?

I just rescued a 1967 Case 750D track loader with a 4 cylinder A267 engine from an old mine site. It had been sitting for 27 years, but I got it running after a lot of work. Has seen its fair share of abuse, but runs pretty well considering. It looks to have a fairly new Head (different...

Suggestions on what to look for when buying a wheel loader?

Hi folks; I was interested in what everyone thought someone should look for (besides the obvious) when buying a wheel loader? I'm most concerned with how best to assess the condition of the articulating pins etc, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance.... :-)

    Can anyone diagnose this?

Oy...... :-( I think I'll shop for a long block. I just went thru the entire undercarriage a couple years ago too.

    Can anyone diagnose this?

OK, ran it for 15 minutes until smoke was pouring out of the breather. Was letting it idle to avoid caramelization before I shut it down, and the engine gave a big "puff" (almost sounded like an air hose being disconnected) of smoke right above the ip. Oil is being forced out of the crankcase...

    Can anyone diagnose this?

yeah sorry guys; I took a video but for some reason I couldn't get it to focus. I'll get a new phone Up & running & post. If the smoke IS coming from the crank vent (which I suspect), what does that generally indicate?

    Can anyone diagnose this?

Hi Folks. I have a Case 855D that is smoking a lot of blue out past the radiator when it warms up (more as it gets hotter). I thought it might have been an injector, so I threw in a new set. Still no change, so I just put on a new turbo. Still no change. Its running OK, although I think I...

    Case 855D & 855E Transmission Differences

Really appreciate the info Sir. We will lift the front end a few degrees just to be safe. I had a leaking track brake anyway, so I guess now is as good a time as any to fix that too.... :-)

    Case 855D & 855E Transmission Differences

I had upgraded my 855D with a 6T590 a year or so (originally a naturally-aspirated model), and had put an entirely new undercarriage on it 6 months ago https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/showthread.php?39098-Rehabing-Case-855D-tracks-are-very-noisy-need-some-advice-please/page7 . Guess this...

    Case 855D & 855E Transmission Differences

Thx alrman; It is most definitely a problem w the 2 speed; I'm thinking maybe a pin that holds a gear on a shaft sheared? Trans pressures are good (near new charge pump); I'll pull the suction screen and inspect tomorrow. I am trying to avoid having to split the tracks and pull the...

    Case 855D & 855E Transmission Differences

Hey ****; Yes lever is by left foot, and I have tried shifting it with the engine stopped; doesn't seem to make a difference. Did you ever end up rebuilding the trans like alrman (or fixing the issue)?

    Case 855D & 855E Transmission Differences

Hi alrman, just found this old thread and have a question for you. My trans just stopped working completely in my 855D when I tried shifting from low to high range. I can hear what sounds like a gear rattling around trying to engage whenever I lift up the front of the machine with my bucket...

    John Deere vs Cat

Question Sir; does your above opinion apply to the Navy model 855 as well?

Considering buying Allis Chalmers HD21; anyone have more info (not a lot of threads)

Thx Merv; great info!! The engine was supposedly rebuilt around 5-6 years ago, after which it received very little to no use. I think everything else (except some hoses and belts) all original.
