    Voltage

Ok, I posted question about the issue with air brakes yesterday & now this happened to me today. Driving at highway speed, my volts with jump from 14 down to 12 & then back up again. At the longest, it will drop to 12 for a minute or so & then jump back up to 14. I don't have headlights...

    Air Brake Issues

Today I locked up my rear brakes thanks to a nice lady that turned in front of me. I was going 60mph & when they locked, only the driver side left skid marks & nothing on the passenger side. I checked air pressure and all 8 were the same. So, do I have a canister going out or already out or...

D9 for your all those jobs were you ain't welcome

I have seen such a thing until I followed Wikipedia to the IDF Caterpillar D9 page. I was shocked as hell to see the Israel military uses these armored bad boys. 15extra tons by the time they are done with the armor, cages, and whatever the hell else they put on the death machines on tracks.

OSHA's New Service Truck Crane Rules

OSHA's New Service Truck Crane Rule http://www.equipmentworld.com/you-ma...d-not-know-it Check this link out. It was brought to my attention by our state's Lumbermans Assoc. board member that frequents the lumber yard. Sounds like a lot of confusing jargon & non-sense between if a guy...

A couple ford l9000 design questions

    1. Who on earth designed these tanks? You might as well cut that bottom step off because it is worthless. Also, looks like they could've put a bigger tanks there to, lots of room between tank and fender, which does come in handy when greasing the truck. PLEASE DON'T MIND THE FILTH, IT HAS...

    Truck Origin

The truck I drive for work is a '91 FORD LTS9000. Is there anyway of figuring out what chassis is began it's life with? I read somewhere that the 9000's were mainly used for semi, but of course that could be wrong. I am just curious to see how this truck was configured before it was stretched...

    Pyrometer

I was wondering how difficult it would be to install a pyrometer on my '91 L9000 with a 3406B CAT. It is something I think should be a standard gauge in any heavy truck, but my truck does not have one. Is it something that I should leave to a shop to install or something I could do myself with...

    Adding additives to 3406B

I have been doing some research on the old 3406B CAT motor & I ran across some interesting info on some guys running tranny fluid in their tanks. Something along the lines of 1qt. of tranny fluid per 100 gallons of fuel - has to do with keeping injectors clean or for some other reasons for...

    New Radiator Questions

Just got a new radiator put in my '91 Ford L9000 with 3406B CAT today. Drove it from the shop back to the yard (about 15miles at highway speeds) & when I pulled in, I noticed that there was water/antifreeze all over the driver side wheel, tire, fuel tank & outrigger behind that tank. After a...

    Boom Fork Question

Since I have been running this boom truck (3yrs) I have noticed that when I have my forks tilted at about 80degrees and want to till the forks down further, if there is a fair amount of weight on the forks, once I start to tilt, the forks just fall to about 50degrees & then grabs. I know that it...

    Lock Valves for Outriggers

Not sure if this is the right category to post in, I'm sure not many of you guys here consider my truck a crane. I have fold-out outriggers on my boom truck (44" projection from edge of truck). These are the "lock" valves on them. I am not sure of the actual term for them. I am wondering how...

    High Shipping Cost

I'm sure this is nothing really new to most of you guys on here, but in the last few days, I realized that shipping cost from a chrome shop is crazy! At least the ones I always visit (Iowa80, Big Rig Chrome Shop & 4State Truck). I was checking on how much it would be place a small order (door...

    '91 Ford LTS9000 Boom Truck

This is the boom truck I drive at local lumberyard. My other boom trucks had been an older Sterling & '06 International (that was a nice truck). Now I am driving this dinosaur, but after driving it for a little over 3yrs, it is really growing on me! The 3306B CAT will pull anything I want it...
