    Cat mini excavator pin grabber

I've built up a few saddles on bigger machines. I didn't get to crazy with the precision just used a grinder to shape everything as best as possible and final fitment was great. I believe the ears on the buckets and the Q/C bits are just mild steel. None the less I built mine up with ER9019...

    Cat 304 CR?

I love my little 304CR. Good build quality, nice cab, accurate hydraulics and overall a great little machine. Mine is coming up on 3000hrs and no problems thus far. It just plain works. I think the key is good servicing, its easy to kill a mini if it has seen neglect and/or abuse. Also, mine...

    grease seepig from tutntable

Also, Make sure to grease the Rotec a lot for the next while as the greae in there might be diluted as well. Once every 1000hrs or so I also slather a tube or two of grease on the swing gear itself. On our Hitachi's its accessible fron the battery box via an inspection cover. One guy swings...

    grease seepig from tutntable

Our old 300-1 Hitachi was the same. I seem to remember one had to remove and replace a rather large bearing down there when installing the new seal. I'd still solve the pressure build up problem before i removed the whole swing unit. You never know, seal might have survived. Keep in mind the...

    grease seepig from tutntable

I had a similar problem on a 345C Cat with one of the two swing motors. The case vent was plugged up and the hydraulic oil from the motor was getting into the swing planetary. I supposed if left un noticed it could fill the planetary up and get past the seal on the bottom filling the house...

John Deere 160 or Volvo 160

Tough choice, I ran a 160 Volvo and loved it. Very accurate and great cab and ergonomics. It was almost new so I cant comment on reliability. I have run a lot of Deeres and Hitachis and like them very much as well. Well proven machines, good reliability and quality. I'd lean to the manufacturer...

CAT 303 CR has the shakes...........

Had a similar problem with our old 200. I ended up buying a bunch of little clear inline fuel filters from Napa. A couple bucks each if I recall. Stuck one inline after the tank before the OEM filter and screen where it was easily accesible. Took 30 seconds to change and was much cheaper than an...

Cat 303 Mini Battery Light Flashing

My 304 does that while glow function is active... once engine is running it goes out. I'd check alt. output. (with engine running) If alt checks out, load test the battery.

    Non traditional excavator uses....

Ive seen a couple turned into giant conveyor belts. Boom and counterweight removed and a long conveyor added that can move around, turn and raise up and down easily. Really cool stuff. One was on a 450 sized machine with 2 60' belts (one feeding the other). Painted up really nice, looked factory...

    Cracked window on 305

Depends.... is it curved tempered glass in that digger? If so its OEM my man. If the glass is like my 304 its flat and laminated so a guy can go the cheap route and have a glass guy cut one out from a sheet of glass and save some $$$! Good luck.

Eng. oil change interval 500hrs...... seems a bit long.

Nice, good to hear.... I guess the oil lasts longer running upside down huh?! (joke :)

Eng. oil change interval 500hrs...... seems a bit long.

All very good points, I hadn't thought of multiple samples forming a baseline but it makes a lot of sense now that you explain it. I run Cat or Donaldson filters and Shell Rotella 15w40 and am at seal level give or take 100'. On a realistic scale I can see the owners of the really big machines...

Eng. oil change interval 500hrs...... seems a bit long.

I remember guys back in the 80's saying "ah oil's cheap let her leak" when referring to not getting around to fixing oil leaks! Funny stuff. Now adays oil is indeed a lot cheaper than engine rebuilds but not as cheap as it once was. I ran a Zaxis 200 with 15000hrs that had 500hr eng oil change...

Eng. oil change interval 500hrs...... seems a bit long.

(Cat 304) Manual says 500hr engine oil change interval. I realize this is fairly black and white but.....It also says says to grease the bucket linkages every 50hrs. I doubt anyone here greases every 50hrs I know I do it every 8-10hrs (daily) Manual also seems to have some other rather long...

    Excavator Ballet vid....

Don't know if this has been posted before or not..... East coast Canadians are so creative. There was a better version without all the commentary but I couldn't find it. This one is still pretty darn good though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYzAJviXr0Y

    New toy. Cat 304.

I must say after putting some hours on this machine it really is nice. Well laid out cab, accurate hydros, great power and really stable. Its much nicer to run than the Bobcat 435 I have to use from time to time. Machine has 2600 pampered hrs. Its been really well looked after and had a 12"...

    Sprocket not Working?

Holy h*ll! How on earth does that happen? Funny thing is the chains don't look that bad! Could it be bad steel in the sprocket?
