Cat D5C C- Frame Trunnion Mount

I'll look into those, I was concerned about quick wear and even thought of just having a machined piece made up for a repair. Welding would still be the best at home repair for me though.

Cat D5C C- Frame Trunnion Mount

Good point, I'll have to get a rosebud on it, that's a big one piece casting!

Cat D5C C- Frame Trunnion Mount

After looking at Undercarriage GP, part 8Y-6578, I think my support is just worn that much to make the nubs or lugs. I'll have to weld it up around the Eyebolt support and machine face it back to standard. Oh well, good thing I like this stuff! What else does a retired aircraft mechanic have to...

Cat D5C C- Frame Trunnion Mount

I had a long conversation with my Cat dealer and they can't find any drawing showing how the trunnion face should look and the mech's don't remember doing one in a long time. The eyebolts were very loose in the trunnion from wear and one bearing was broken, the other had welded itself to the...

Cat D5C C- Frame Trunnion Mount

1993 D5C Sn 6PJ00785 I pulled my Eyebolts from the C- Frame (oh what fun that was!), and it doesn't seem right. The eye bolt has a machined face all the way around but the trunnion mount has two raised index points. You can see it has deformed the eyebolt face, is there something missing like...

    Cat D5C Track Guards

    Cat D5C Track Guards

Not sure what's up with my Cat site, both set of numbers show up as correct fit for my dozer! I'm going to try my Cat dealer again with the new numbers.

    Cat D5C Track Guards

Hmm, the other PNs came from the Cat online parts manual when I did my search, it has my D5C SN as part of my account. Thanks Nige, I'll run the numbers you found and see what I can find! Dave

    Cat D5C Track Guards

Hey Nige, They may be called track adjuster panel or guards, at any rate they cover the track adjuster spring. Cat parts manual list them as 8y-7166, 67 and so forth, I think it shows 4 panels total. Cat said they are no longer available.

    Cat D5C Track Guards

When I bought my 93' D5C, s/n 6PJ00785, all the track guards were missing. It's bad enough cleaning out the clay and dirt with guards but what a pain without! I've had no luck finding any new used or otherwise so looking for options on modifying other models guards maybe?? I've found these...

    Cat D5C S/N 6PJ00785 Transmission Leak (Update)

That's what I suspected, just didn't want make it worse. Even the local Cat dealer mech couldn't find any info on the PTO install but felt it should just pull out. dave

    Cat D5C S/N 6PJ00785 Transmission Leak (Update)

So after repacking the right steering control valve (looked like it was coming from there) I found the leak was coming from the PTO shaft seal off the Transfer Gear Case. I'm looking at pulling the PTO shaft out of the "cage Bearing" cover to see if I can replace the seal without having to...

    Cat D5c Magical Leak Fix?

Welder, now I know why I see all those buckets at construction sites, That's not a bad price if it's free shipping, I looking at my tractors and backhoe to see if I can consolidate to TO-4 in them. My Yanmar uses TO-2 so I'm pretty sure it can use -4, not so sure about the old Case backhoe.

    Cat D5c Magical Leak Fix?

Not hear of that fluid before, might try it for a farm dozer but I like to fix the leaks if can. Nige, at the cost of TO-4 I think I'll keep using AW46 in the hydraulics, can you imaging changing out 15 gallons! I'm guessing it can be mixed with the AW though? It is still leaking but I just...

    Cat D5c Magical Leak Fix?

I suppose it could be but according to the previous owner (a construction company) it needs fluid every couple days...by the gallon.o_O

    Cat D5c Magical Leak Fix?

So I got my brand new 1993 D5c (SN 6pj00785) home and, as I do, started tinkering with it between clearing some land. I knew it had a pretty bad leak from the trans area but got it at the right price thinking I'd fix it as a winter project then something weird happened. The fellow I got it...
