Case 580ck backhoe control valve seals ???

What did you end up doing? I am thinking about doing the same thing because I am losing pressure through the valves. What steps did you use to remove the valve bodies? Suggestions? Thanks, Joe

    Hydraulic cylinder gland removal

Gland Problem Hello: If I understand correctly, you are having problems removing the gland off the rod. If this is correct, here are a couple of suggestions. The rod has warped or is worn in the sense the gland is having difficulty getting past the thicker area of the rod. Some shops...

580 ck BH: Purging air from shuttle clutch

Is there a process for purging air from the shuttle system. The manual refers to excess air but has no details. Sincerely, Joe Ramirez

    580CK w/33 hoe repair

On my 580 CK, you can pull the seat out and just have the "female" tube left - that gives me a lot of space to get at the valves. I have had to disconnect hoses from the valves when working on the swing cylinders. I am guessing you can do the work you need to do without detaching the boom -...

    580CK w/33 hoe repair

Find a local supplier I am not sure by your description of where the oil is leaking. Are you talking about the valves, the pressure relief valve on the BH boom, or where. I suggest you disassemble and video tape it while you do it. I would also mark the 0-rings while doing it. Of course...

580b ck mechanic in San Antonio

Hello: Does anyone know of a true 580b CK mechanic in the San Antonio area. The last guy that worked on my BH, ended up putting seals backwards on a stabilizer cylinder. Had to have the work redone. Thanks, Joe

    Case 580 ck

Update: I continued to fiddle with the 580 ck and found that if I run the engine on max revs, sometimes it will jump into gear (spin the tire on the ground) and take off fast. It will remain in forward or reverse (moving) even at low revs. If I stop and take it out forward or reverse, it will...

    Case 580 ck

Thanks for your help. I parked my backhoe last fall and it was running fine. Today, I started right up, butI had to rock it back and forth with the mechanical shuttle to get it going. Once I got it moving, something clearly "kicked in" and it was working like always - smooth. I dug out a...

    Need advice on 1st backhoe

Buying Having just bought a BH, I cannot over emphasize having it checked out by a mechanic before you buy. Parts are expensive: probably because the dealers operate from the perspective you are a commercial operator. I have spent a lot of $$$$ on my unit to get it up to good operating...

    Case 580b shuttle valve problem

Spool valve linkage Phil: Thanks for the help! I guess when you write "The linkage that most 580B's end up with is a long 1/4" bolt going through the roller bearing that rides in the cam slot." is the replacement solution you created to solve this problem of worn, loose Case parts. I...

    Case 580b shuttle valve problem

Hello all: A new fuel pump was installed in my 580B backhoe and it has new found power. Today, I had the A38033 Flow Control SPOOL blow out of the shuttle valve assembly! The spool was bent slightly and landed by the seat. I had TCH oil pumping out of the shuttle valve! A few moments...

My 580B can not even move!!!

truviking: My local dealer found that the original spec. spring (B model)for the clutch/brakes combo can be replaced with the C series model of spring. The later model spring is the same length, much stronger and a direct replacement. Hope this helps.

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Correction: Phil, Is the dowel pin you are referring to on my shuttle shift (no dual range) actually Part Number 138-245 PIN, LOCK, located to the right and front of the safety switch on the gear shift cover assembly?

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Phil: My BH has a shuttle only and no dual range. My service manual shows a locating dowel for the dual range shuttle assembly. I have not been able to find a dowel on the shuttle/shift lever diagrams of the manual. Is there a locating dowel on the non-dual, shuttle only assembly? Thanks, Joe

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Phil and Racenitro: Thanks for the advice. Phil, you are a wonder of anecdotal things that can go wrong! Racenitro, how did the removal of the assembly go? I imagine the fork placement is what is important to put back into the right position when reassembling- is this correct?

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Racenitro: Thanks! I am thinking of removing the assembly and take it to a professional mechanic to repair since his service call costs would be over 50 percent of the total repair.

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Phil: I have the four speed shuttle. You state "If it's the four speed shift lever that jumps out of first only, then often it's the cover dowel that's the problem." Is the "cover dowel" the same thing as the "shifter rail" for first/second? The shifter rails I am referring to are underneath...

Case 580b jumps out of first gear

Hello: I have read the posts discussing this model where the shuttle shift jumps out of first gear under load. My 1971 model jumps out under load or just when traveling without pushing a "load". Phil states fixing this type of problem is "Not usually an expensive repair, sometimes a fork...
