Questions about replacing the Track speed sensor Cat D5G LGP

Nige thanks for your help (previous posts from other members and this post). Ahart - thanks for the advice - it was spot on. I ended up ordering the old part number for three reasons; -It was easier to find and order online -It was less expensive -I was able to "plug and play" and did not...

Questions about replacing the Track speed sensor Cat D5G LGP

CM1995 - I also own a Kobelco Excavator that needed work. I spoke to an owner of a land clearing business that only has CAT equipment and lives down the road. He stated the least expensive service call he had was a two minute fix and cost $1,700. Not complaining - it is what it is. But I...

Questions about replacing the Track speed sensor Cat D5G LGP

You are correct. Codes were 245 and 246 (left track) which is still the old sensor. The rocker switch only malfunctioned once, but I will order a new switch as well. I will wait to replace the right side sensor. I can not find where it states in the repair manual that re-calibration is...

Questions about replacing the Track speed sensor Cat D5G LGP

HI Nige, the nearest Cat dealer is 1.5 hours away. It does not matter if they are in the area, they are still going to charge you a "trip" charge from the dealer. The Kobelco dealer is about the same distance. Their service rep lived five miles away from my machine. The service rep...

Questions about replacing the Track speed sensor Cat D5G LGP

I think I have a bad speed sensor on my Cat D5G (RKG0140). I plan on testing the alternator first and try to pull codes. If it is the speed sensor, I have several questions; -the part number has changed and the part seems to have been improved. I have read that it is not "plug and play" and...

    Cat D5G Quick Question

Ok, just purchased and downloaded the manual. Not much help except to confirm that the guage is the speed. My problem is, the machine (under a heavy load) will switch speeds on its own. For instance, if I am pushing heavy wet clay dirt, the machine will automatically change from speed...

    Center top guage - THANKS

    Cat D5G Quick Question

This is probably a stupid question. On my Caterpiller D5G LGP, the dash has a guage that indicates tract tension (at least that is what I think it is). The guage goes from 1 - 3 and has a green swish mark behind the numbers. The green mark is thick on the number 3 and thin at the number 1...

Kobelco SK200 LC Idler adjuster questions

Serial Number YQU4681 I went to put grease into the idler adjuster fitting. One side worked great and the track tightened up but the other side did not tighten. Grease came out from the shaft that pushes the idler forward. Is there a seal that goes around the shaft? Thanks for any help!!!

    Kobelco Hydraulic Pump Question

Kobelco SK 200LC. The bolt pictured fell off the machine and was gone. When we were working on the machine, the mechanic noticed the bolt missing. We put a new bolt in, I don't know how much to screw it in.

    Kobelco Hydraulic Pump Question

Thanks for the reply. So the part number 627 is the bolt and adjusting it will either create additional load on the engine (maybe to the point of too much load on the engine) or lessen the load on the engine but you will loose hydraulic pressure? Am I thinking correctly?

    Kobelco Hydraulic Pump Question

Serial number YWU4681 So the new bolt in the picture located on the left of the pump came out and I replaced the bolt (8MM). It appears to be a way to make an adjustment to the pump (maybe pressure??). How do I know how to set the new bolt - meaning how far to turn the bolt in? Currently...

    Motor RPMs are fluctuating

OK, thanks for the help. I ended up replacing the injector pump (inline Bosch pump) with a used pump and the engine runs much better. The mechanic stated that the internal shaft has weights which were not working to keep the engine RPMs constant. Just reporting back on the outcome.

Hello Hello is there anybody out there???

    Motor RPMs are fluctuating

Serial number is YQU468 My Kobelco 200LC Mark IV is not running good. The rpms are low and the injector pump (throttle) is turned up to the maximum. The RPMs fluctuate up and down. I replaced both fuel filters (twice) and they appeared clean. I replaced the lift pump and that helped...

    Cat D5G oil pressure problem

OK, I try to reply what the final outcome is when I have a problem. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and the high pressure reading remained unchanged. I ordered a new gauge and that fixed the problem and the pressure reads as it should. Thanks

    Kobelco SK200 LC

Yes this forum is great. When I first purchased the excavator (my first piece of heavy equipment) - I received a VERY QUICK education on having it worked on. The first call was to the Kobelco Authorized dealer and scheduled an appointment to have the machine worked on. Three days later...
