    Haultruck identification ????

We called them rockers and they were pulled by R85 Eucs on a dam project in Ca. Backing up was no problem, they were loaded by a 280B shovel and a 992A Cat loader. I can't remember the manufacturer but maybe Athey.

    Stihl Chain Saw

I have 2 Husky saws, don't remember the model but 1 size down from the biggest one. Both with 32" bars because bending over to limb kills my old back. The Husky dealer was a super guy and would work all night to get a saw running again. Most of the loggers in the area purchased their saws from...

    Are Scrapers Becoming Obsolete?

Hi Wolf, Most anybody can learn to herd a scraper down the road but a real skilled operator is a pleasure to watch. Especially 637s and 657s. They cut and fill in a continuous manner and keep the cut and fill smooth enough for a pickup. They will also just about climb a tree in steep country...

    Homemade OROPS

Hi Guys, When new 46A dozers started arriving on the project most of them had Medford ROPS made with round tubing. Some of the ROPS were made by Selby using square tubing. Google Medford ROPS and you will see a picture of a 41AC with a Medford canopy

    big tires

Hi Guys, Yes, slick tires wear longer than lugged tires working in shot rock and water. Wet rubber cuts easier than dry rubber. I have operated several different Wagner ST8 muckers and they all had slick tires. Also 988 loaders in shot rock.

    binding down dozer

Hi wolfman, Thats an interesting question and I am sure ATCO is right with his answer, but. I have never tied a dozer down, I just stood out of the way and watched the Murray teamster throwing chains and binders and racing around the rig so he could get on the road. I don't remember where...
