Just got back from the annual trip from Alaska to WA. There was quite a bit of logging in many places in BC. All for the mills had full log decks.

The one that surprised me was along the Cassiar Hwy. There were more trucks running than since the Hwy 37 power project was active. I noticed some big clear cuts that were new since the year before last. We took the AK Hwy last year for a change.

Nice, do you have any photos to post. I would like to make that trip in the not too distant future.

Sorry; no photos this year. We did run into wet snow and sleet between Vanderhoof and Houston on the Yellowhead and Watson Lake and going west for about 3 hours. It is starting to be winter in the north country.

Will you go on this journey this year? I also want to visit Seatle later this month. However, my dad was in there a couple of days ago, and he told me that a particular sector of the Cassiar Hwy was flooded. We wanted to go there this Friday, as we wanted to spend the entire weekend in Seatle. We will have to look for some new girls day out ideas as I have already seen there will be some heavy rains during the following week. I am terrified of floodings, as I do not want to get my car totaled.

I am not sure about your comment. The Southern end of the Cassiar is a full 2-day drive from Seattle. It then takes 8+ hours to get to the top end of the Cassiar which is in the middle of nowhere, Yukon Territory. Flooding on Canadian Hwy's is common; usually involve washouts which create delays; and are not related to Seattle. Hope this helps.

Not sure about that coment either but this thread caught my attention. Highway 37 is one of my favorite drives. A typical return trip from work up in the Yukon would go like this, Leave Whitehorse get to Dease lake early evening. Spend an extra day or 2 backtracking to Cassiar to explore old and new placer mine workings. Then early morning departure for Smithers or Prince George if im ambitious. Sometimes ill make a sidetrip to Stewart ( that led to a months hard labor on a broken down Manitowoc, one trip so i have to careful there ). Then from Prince George its an easy trip down to Vancouver . Usually via the Fraser Canyon, its a nicer drive. You can make better time on this trip ,but its a nice holiday stopping when you want especially if your into industrial stuff.

Priceless recommendation ^
We have not driven beyond Kelowna or Whistler, it is on our retirement short list. This RV won't be the one though, I want something a little more robust.

Was that way a few years back. Nice drive. Stewart/Hyder was interesting. Roads near Haynes Junction and Tok were slow due to road base (permafrost) coming out of the muskeg and causing settling and wallowing of the road grade. Saw a guys RV in Valdez where he had the whole rear wall ratchet-strapped on-- all the screws let go. He was from Texas and he was only half way through his trip:eek:. Saw a big class A motorhome laying on its side south of Chicken. Got too far over on the shoulder of the road:rolleyes:. Top of the World Highway from Chicken to Dawson City was well worth the drive. Little old ladies and men with their big class A diesel motorhomes and yappy poodles were crying and terrified and said ' never again' :D:D:D:D. Good trip but we ran out of time

Well, the first ever post by a new member, containing an embedded link about something that has nothing to do with HEF's purpose should be a clue--that one was a spammer. Since the post generated further discussion, it can stay, but the link has been edited out and the spammer banned.

When there are no replies, we have a "one touch" spam cleaner that makes life simple. Deciding how to handle spam that has replies to it is *so* much more work...

Clever to insert into the middle of a convo, that makes it harder. If it is a new thread it is easy to report.

No problem. I just put that there because I saw it as a "teachable moment." It might save us some work somewhere down the line.
