Hi Folks,

I want to buy a backhoe from the UK which is left handed driving country to a right handed driving country. I am not too sure if this will be a problem as i dont know if the controls are located lefthanded or they are universal as in when it comes to these equipment they are all same regardless of the country

Most backhoe models the driver sits bang in the centre of the vehicle left-to-right, not off to one side like in a car or truck. So it should make no difference, but you should look at photos of what you intend to buy to confirm that.
As Dave says the controls ougt to be universal.

@Benji The UK is a Right Hand Drive country. The USA is Left Hand Drive. The type of driving is signified by where the driver control are not where you are on the road. Not that it matters here but it could confuse some.

The left side of a vehicle is always the left side no matter which way you look at it. So if someone says left side that mean the left in relation to where you sit to operate it.

That being said I have owned a couple Land Rovers in RHD configuration. Other than the gear selector being different the pedal configuration is the same. Right foot is throttle.

As Nige side you sit in the middle with a backhoe so you should not has issues.

Controls are either SAE or ISO, not right or left hand, different topic altogether. As has been pointed out, driving of a loader/backhoe, your placed in the center or the machine, there is no left/right in driving, you're planted in the middle.

Another thought. If the machine that you are planning to buy in the UK is equipped with an exhaust aftertreatment system in order to meet Euro emissions regulations it will require ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) in order to operate correctly. Have you investigated the availability of that type of fuel in the destination country..?

The other issue about loader backhoes in Europe that I have seen in photos is that many have a shifting mechanism the will move the turret side to side in relation to the center line of the machine. The use an A frame and the stabilizers stand straight up and down.
