Bought this from a neighbor a year ago. Had to jump it once before a few months ago. A month ago replaced the battery as it tested weak after a charge. It started up, worked with it for about 45 minutes, shut it off in the pasture. Went out to finish the job a day later and it wouldn't start. Battery tests at almost zero.
Sounds like a bad battery but when I tried to jump it, no go. Indicator lights came on but didn't even try to turn over.
Used a 1000Amp starter. Nothing. Now not even the indicator lights. I can't get the battery out without the boom being up. Can't put a charger on it as it is in the pasture.
Checked the ground, fuse to the ignition looks good, battery terminals look good.
Seems like there is a safety switch preventing it from starting AND a bad battery.
What am I missing?

Welcome to HEF Docrox;)! A serial number would help for accurate information. Sounds like a short somewhere drawing the battery down. Was the park brake switch in the "on" position? If not it won't crank. Lets deal with one issue at a time. Does your battery have enough left to light a test light? If it does then remove the negative cable from the battery. Place the test light between the negative cable and the negative battery post to see if the light lights (key off). If the battery does not have enough left to light the test light, then put a jump box on the battery and try the test light between the cable and the battery to see if it lights. Report back.

i bought a skidsteer brand new in 2009; dealer had a quick connect on the battery terminal and told me to keep it disconnected because the battery would draw down. That’s exactly what would happen, I found out.

fast forward to about five years later; replaced the alternator. Never had any more battery draw down issues.

So...your alternator might be the culprit in the battery draw down

For what it’s worth.....
