Forgot the most important one, of the s-cam.
While looking at the picture notice the upper roller is completely off the S cam. I can also see from the dirt scraped off the cam that there is very little to no movement of the cam. I would completely disassemble all of the brakes clean and reassemble replacing any worn or defective parts to be sure this doesn't happen again. Tires are way too expensive to throw away.

Your right 63 caveman. I didn't even look at the original posting date.

Has anyone ever tried these grease-less s-cam bushings? (etcominc.com ) they sound promising but are a bit pricey.

The one thing I wonder about is the deicing fluid on the roads. That stuff works it's way into everything under a truck/trailer and the brake systems are awash in it.

Being able to flush the bushings with grease seems to help in that area. Had a Freightliner with non greaseable bushings on the steers awhile back, both brakes were dragging. Had to beat the cams out with a sledge, turned out there were plugs where the fittings would normally be. Guess how it went back together?
