Big part of the problem is that the larger manufacturers are run by kids with MBA’s and no real world experience. It’s all about the bottom line from an accounting and business practice standpoint.
Some analyst fresh out of college isn’t going to understand why a PDI at the dealership is waaaaaay more effective than doing it at the factory before it ships. All they see is an opportunity to shuffle some costs around and save a publicly traded corporation millions of dollars a year which drives up share prices and gets them ahead in their career.
For sake of argument, and knowing I’m not impartial on this, Case has been making some really great loaders in the G series. All made in North Dakota and the case dealers still do their inspection at the dealership as opposed to the factory.
