The service manual for my (1988) 843 bobcat says you can use 5W30 motor oil for hydraulic fluid. So my question is, it OK to use a full synthetic or synthetic blend of this oil? What would any pros or cons be? Also, I can't seem to find what type of oil is spec-ed for the ISUZU engine (54 HP 4 cylinder) Anyone know? Thanks!

15w40 in the engine. As the hydraulic, bobcat use to say 10w30 could be used in a case of emergncy, but always pushed the use as bobcat hydraulic/ hydrostatic. I know plenty of farms that solely run 10w30 with no problems. I don't think there would be any gain in running synthetic in the hydraulic

my manual for my 743b says 10w30 in hyd, only advantage i see for using syn in hyd is if you was in a cold climate. i used syn in crank case that helps alot on cold starts. i need to add hyd fluid to it and was wondering samething, since i bought it used im not sure what is actually in it.

as of 2006 bobcat no longer recommends engine oil in the hyd/hydrostatic system.

engine oil formulas have drastically changed over the years, as have some hyd oil formulas

A good quality AW hyd oil will work fine. Being in SE Michigan, might want to use AW32.
