Hello all ...
New here, new to the game too!
When my father passed a couple years ago, he left me a '65 Case 530 Construction King that he picked up in the mid 70's to take care of his homestead. He also left me 10.5 acres that I am now in the process of building a 1400' drive through challenging terrain. It didn't take long before I realized a larger machine was needed. Picked up a '79 IH 280A backhoe loader with an extendable dipperstick a couple weeks ago and am happy with it so far. Moving quarry tailings from a 100+ years ago for the road bed, pulling stumps, and hauling timber that will end up at the sawmill. Also picked up an old '78 F-7000 with a CAT 3208 engine ... what a beast!

ok ... that's enough rambling, time to crash.

Peace

JV

I am a commercial pilot with poperty in north central Florida. The road to our property is unmaintained by municipalities so its up to the six property owners who live along the 2.5 mi. single lane dirt road to maintain it. I recently purchased a 1981 Ditch Witch 6510 to try and keep the road in shape. It has obviously seen some action but appears to be in good shape.
I thought this forum would be a good place to learn about the Ditch Witch.
I look forward to sharing knowledge and experience (low at this time) with forum participants.

Well, to get off my probationary status, I may as well post here to introduce myself.

Been involved in heavy equipment for 31 years. Mainly excavators, telehandlers, vacuum trucks, trenchers (this is a new one to me...and a LARGE machine at that ), AWP's, and the odd dozer job. Been involved from both a manufacturer, user, and rental yard.

But I work to support my real passion....I like vintage Brit motorcycles. Darn things keep breeding in the garage....have way too many now :D

Hello to all !
Joined a couple of weeks ago. I was looking for info on Lima crane/ draglines. I am equipment operator/weldor/mechanic working for Lane const. in the northeast. Also member of IUOE #98. We have a Lima 2400 w/8yd hendrix bucket for underwater gravel operation. They brought this in from FL. from one of thier satelite companies. This was my introduction to larger crane dragline work. It was "there it is- go run it" A few operator/wire rope malfuntions later, I caught on. The only problem I have found is with reversing shaft frictions spitting out lining and apply rotochamber failure. I have put a regulator in the swing circut at 40 psi this helps but still have trouble.
Anyway I also has a 1947 Lima 34 dragline for backyard fun. (I guess I'm a Lima guy). Interesting reading here, and usually check every few days.

Welcome to the world of H.E.F hfdzl, Geraldes. we are a very forgiving out fit and like to help if we can.Geraldes if you are that concerned about the spelling right click the text set the spelling checker to US or UK and as you are typing any error will be underlined, again right click the word and it will prompt you to choose a spelling or word, but don't let it detract from your enjoyment of the site.We do understand that english is not your first language, and your english is probably better than my flemish or dutch.

Bill Here - Landowner who is in the proces of clearing hardwoods from 30 acres. Lots of experience with tractors and tree felling but needed to move to heavy equipment to stump and level the land, dig up the rocks, etc. SO I have bought myself a 1998 Kobelco SK150. I have run small machines once or twice but this is another animal! It has some small issues that I need to work on so looking forward to the expertise that exists on this forum. Thanks
