We got nailed last year with high wind storms, lots of ice and snow, floods and cold that lasted all the way into May. This year we haven't had a high wind storm yet but have really gotten hammered with lots of snow, ice and rain and seen an extended period of flooding. That's two bad years in a row for a place that doesn't see average lows below 35 degrees F. Sure the construction market is shot because of the economy but we can't do much work anyway because of the weather.

With the wide number of locations the members of this board cover, I'm wondering if these last two years are worse then normal, normal or better than normal. How has the weather affected your business?

we have had a close to normal winter the last 2 years which feels like above normal because we have been dry for quite a few years.usually depends on the push for the job,but most of the time it will effect the scraper crews and other rubber tired equipment, but the pipeline crews and dozer operations keep going.

tough this year for the masonry business on Long Island. Not much snow but cold or rain, I guess you could look at the records from the past online. I drive myself crazy looking at the weather. For tomorrow it has changed every 2 hours since 5 am this morning.:confused: They really seem to be horrible except for temps a day in advance.

John it has been the same exact thing as you stated here.Because of it the work has gotten backloged up and this spring is starting out wet again:mad:.

It is driving me crazy lots of work to do ,but in a short time frame as it is ag work and they will be wanting us to get it done and out of there way for planting. With notill planting the time is even shorting in the spring anymore.

I still had a good year last year, but would have been one of my best ever if the weather would just have giving us a break here.

With having all this work and not beeing able to do in with the economy like it is i was just hoping to take advantage of things, but doesn't look promising.

Anyway the weather here has been almost idential to yours and we are quite aways apart.:beatsme:usa

i know in my area i heard there was alot of guys that worked right through the winter last year which was a heavy one in terms of snow. this was due to the summer having alot of rain periods, every basment they dug would cave in. im hoping with this light winter even though the econemy is on the down turn we might be saved giving us the same sort of deal having projects pushed back

Oriden- Unless you are Condrain or Tacc, goodluck getting very much work this year. Everyone i Know is down at least 75%. Thank God the Goverment and municipal contracts hasnt completely slowed down yet. Hopefully this early thaw will mean an early start.

My main winter money maker is pushing snow. We have had a record dry season on the eastern side of Colorado this year. My income is 19% of what I did last winter, and I even added two more accounts.

So here I am virtually begging for any job just to make ends meet. :(
