I went the premanufactured family route. Never wanted kids. Ended up with 3 step kids. 10 out of 10 wouldn’t recommend. Now there’s a granddaughter and she’s fun in small doses.

Being a stepfather is the hardest thing that I have ever done and I don't say that flippantly.
If I knew then what I know now. I wouldn't have done it. I don't recommend it for anyone. Being a stepfather isn't for the weak.

That is the best advice! I dated a women in her mid 30's with 4 kids from 3 different guys when I was in my early 20's. Funny enough, I was far closer in age to her oldest then her, oldest was only like 5 years younger then me I picked the wrong one. It took me awhile after it ended to realize how stupid I was. She got back with one of her ex's and had a 5th kid after. Now I won't go near a women with any kids no matter what.

Back on topic. After so many great years I had a bad experience with Volvo dealer. Called yesterday about a/c clutch, none in north america, have to check on lead time $850, we do have the a/c compressor in stock though $500. Called me back today and said none available but you could just buy the whole a/c compressor with pulley on it. I didn't want to ask the stupid question yesterday if it came with the pulley because I just assumed they'd tell me if it did and why would a component of one part cost more then the entire thing? Was annoyed at that, why wouldn't you say right away the whole part is less and in stock and not waste time? And why the heck is Volvo so stupid to even have a part number for the pulley separate at a insane price?

I'm heading out in about an hour. A small cabin next to a creek (might be dried up now) nice and quiet, birds chirping, squirrels dancing, a nice breeze through the pines. I'll post some pics when I get a chance between multiple 5 hour naps.;) AHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh:D

This absolute incompetence in all aspects of life from these morons is beyond infuriating. It is everywhere you turn.

Boss wants a quote to get a D400 they converted to a water wagon, right now parts are at $8000 with no major componets; mostly hoses, a few seals. But it will also need a valve added in to make the hydraulic suspension system work, and we all know the operators or delivery drivers aren't going to remember to put it back to low, so the hydraulic water pump motor doesn't blow. I see it happening the second delivery if not the first. Also had a ATD burn down, wanted a quote on what it would take to repair, basically told him another mechanic as I don't want to touch it with the longest stick I could find.

Well, it's back to the daily grind. Me and the wife ran off and forgot our phone chargers so no pics........but believe it or not, it's the first time I didn't have my phone for 3-4 days in a row since the cell phone was invented. Awkward at first but a blessing in disguise.

That is pretty nice. Last weekend went camping and there was no cell service, unplugged for the whole weekend. I didn't miss it at all.

I pull into the construction yard to find this pushed up to the shop door.331G-1.jpg

Pretty self-explanatory here. Apparently, ALL rubber tracks are made overseas now (China, Korea, Japan). I can either get standard or HD tracks in several tread patterns but the cost on aftermarkets are right where the OEMs are. I can get standard aftermarket for around $1800 per track but I'm not sure what the quality of those would be. OEM runs $5400.00 a set. I'm still looking around at the moment;) The last service done on this was before paint was invented I guess..........nothing on the filters.

There was also a 700K parked out back. I went down to it to look it over and noticed what looked like oil pushed through the holes on the right engine enclosure door. Yeah, I was right........
700K door.jpg
I pulled the oil dipstick on the engine and there was just a touch of oil at the tip of the stick. I called the haul truck driver, the general super, and the job super and asked if they were aware of any issues with this dozer. All replied, "Not that I'm aware of." JFC:eek::rolleyes: I tagged this one out of commission until I can get to it.

Friday night when I get home I make a conscious effort to set my phone on the table with the ringer off until Monday morning. I will check once a day to see if any friends have checked in but that’s it. I have no problem grinding it out 12-15 hours a day from Monday through Friday but I need the weekend to reset otherwise I feel a case of burnout coming on.

Tracks have went that crazy? Dahm I priced out one's for my Deere 319 it didn't seem like that long ago for $2400 for the pair in aftermarket, i'm happy with how the same brand has stood up on my mini hoe i. I'm getting every last hour of them I can. Compared to those they look new though. The only problem is the lugs are nearly wore right off and traction ain't so great.

Question for you on tracks, I recently put a cut on one in my mini hoe (my stupid fault using bucket to put a thrown track back on), it's about 1 1/2" in and up to a cord and about 2" long is torn. Should I cut the piece out? Braid it back together? Something I can put on to protect the cords from rusting out? Tracks are probably 60% to 70% life left so not looking to replace anytime soon. Although from the looks of those pictures and the amount of cuts and that the track never snapped maybe I have nothing to worry about?

I'm not aware of any fix for splits in rubber tracks. The abuse the tracks take would more than likely destroy any type of fix and possibly make the fix area even worse. I would leave well enough alone.
