Have actually bought a Devilbiss dekups system gun setup, previously painted with a old Sharps gun with siphon cup where was never schooled on paint guns with it having a 7 nozzle tip. The HVLP Devilbiss guns use far less air pressure as well deliver paints at a better delivery being gravity over siphon and the dekups liners making far less mess. Recommended by a local body man who is going to assist by mixing paints and reducing/hardening agents on a as need basis for existing weather and temps. He has the scales and bulk additives just has to order the paint codes. Said will use far less paint than in the old days. Quart to quart and half for Frame, is thinking not much more for entire cab and less than a quart of clear over color.
He said will get me a rattle can primer to cover repair spots that will be less likely to lift when cover with final paint. Eases more fears.
has been coaching me on paint gun pressures, patterns and how to deliver paint appropriately, he has a full shop with a booth but ot has been useless for close to a decade where booth painting is not nearly as required under HVLP system use now. Will see if can manage this.
