JD490 bucket cylinder not retracting after servicing - what did I do? Need Help.

Hi Mike, I have not disconnected the pilot lines yet, should I try at the valve body? I don't have a pressure gauge - can get one here tomorrow, so I don't know the pressure to the cylinder, when I opened the cylinder line and ran it into a bucket it was like a garden hose not on full blast if...

JD490 bucket cylinder not retracting after servicing - what did I do? Need Help.

Joe - its a 490D, Uffex, I don't believe it is a broken / separated piston, as I also don't have down pressure on the the boom - ie -it won't lift lift the machine off the ground, seems to be more of a gravity down, but it will lift up. The book says its an open center system, but in trying to...

JD490 bucket cylinder not retracting after servicing - what did I do? Need Help.

Thanks, I used zip lock back and gorilla tape over all the ports, so no rags in there for sure. No air in the pump as I checked the purge port there, will try a line.

JD490 bucket cylinder not retracting after servicing - what did I do? Need Help.

Had to pull the rotary manifold out of my JD490 / Fabtek harvester the other day. Marked the top lines as they came off, the bottom steel lines are pretty obvious. Got it all back together yesterday and now I have a couple odd issues that were fine before. The bucket cylinder will not...

Need advice with a leak on JD490D excavator

Ok, the gearbox is not overfull, however the area that the gear and bearing are in is full of hydraulic oil. There is an access cover under the main boom pins I removed and checked to be sure, and yes its full of oil. From under the machine when looking up at the center manifold there are two...

Need advice with a leak on JD490D excavator

Thanks Willie, I know the port you are talking about, but that is gear oil, and it is hydraulic oil that is leaking. What do you mean by the "Center rotating joint"?

Need advice with a leak on JD490D excavator

I have a 1987 ish JD490D that was converted into a Fabtek harvester sometime in the 90's. I have hydraulic oil that is leaking from underneath in the center of the machine. The oil is coming out at the main ring gear that the center is on. Reading through my book and looking on line my...

    One more JD 490 question

Can anybody tell me if a 1987 JD490D would have come with a valve to swap from JD to Cat controls? If so where would I look for it? This machine is a Fabtek processor conversion and has a lot of additional valves, and lines to it. If there is no switching valve I am presuming I can just swap...

Got my new to me 490D with a Fabtek harvester conversion today. I have an electrical gremlin in the harvester, but my question is what does the 1" yellow momentary push button behind the heater controls on the right side do? The label is worn off. Thanks. I think I attached a photo of the...

    Need help with a Hydro-Ax

Went and looked at a Hydro-Ax 311B today, 1986 vintage, shear head. Owner said he bought it from Richie Brothers 8 months ago and claimed he had "cut a few trees" with it after he first got it, then said his brother had "run it around a bit". I could not get the main arms to lower using the...
