    Deere 333 vs Kubota 97-2

Thank you all for the input. All good points. I hate the door on the Deere, but love the hydraulics. I like the controls and cab on the Kubota. But yeah, you hear DEF problems from everyone. I have a couple of older machines.. Cat 955 and a Deere 550. I thought Cat was bad on parts pricing...

    Deere 333 vs Kubota 97-2

So... yeah, I prefer the roll-up door. I’ve never been a fan of the door on the Deere. In other, older machines, the hydraulics on Deere have always been far superior to Kubota. But the specs look close on these...2 gpm flow difference, but I don’t know if that’s a lot? And I don’t know if...

    Deere 333 vs Kubota 97-2

Looking at a new machine. Down to the Deere 333g or Kubota 97-2. Deere has a little more operating capacity and slightly more hyd flow. Kubota has more room in the cab, 0% financing, and is about $15k less. Any input on the machines?

Looking for input on a small portable crusher plant

Like jaclo, I'm jumping in on this thread because I don't see anywhere else to go with it. I'm looking at adding a portable concrete crusher to an excavation business.....50 ton machine or smaller. Anyone have a ballpark number on annual maintenance for a crusher like this? Also, any...

    John Deere 550 Transmission Slipping

I have a 1985 John Deere 550. When I'm going up a hill, the transmission starts slipping and I lose all drive. Once I get it back on level ground for about 30 seconds, it has plenty of drive. I checked the fluid level and it was fine. Even added some to get it above the full mark.....no change...

955L 85Jxxxxx RH Tilt Cylinder Removal & Repack Job

Yep.....like I said.....I'm not arguing. You guys know a lot more than I do, so I'm sure you're right. And Like you, I don't have $80 to throw away either.....sometimes my lack of patience gets the better of me....

955L 85Jxxxxx RH Tilt Cylinder Removal & Repack Job

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but this is how I look at it..... I had the proper socket and a 10 foot cheater pipe. I'm 250# and was standing on the end of that pipe.....no luck. After the heat, they popped right off. I think the nuts were $80 to replace. I could have been more creative...

955L 85Jxxxxx RH Tilt Cylinder Removal & Repack Job

Those big nuts are nylon lined to lock them on. I heated mine until the nylon started bubbling out and they came right off. Takes lots of heat though. Downside is, you have to replace the nuts.

1979 550 John Deere steering problems

Hand lever or foot pedal steer? Either way, it's probably issues with linkage binding up. There are no grease fittings on the shaft that the linkage rotates on, and they can bind up if it sits a while. Left and right sides might be binding up together.

    1973 Cat 955L

Can't open the pictures, but if it's in decent shape, $6,000 is a pretty good price. I paid $10,000 for mine about 5 years ago.

    Cat 955 Loader Arm Pin

How much play is in the loader frame and linkage? Looks like that pin is making contact with the inside of the frame when it retracts back into the frame. Take a peek inside the frame when the loader is up and see if it's been rubbing. I'd guess there is either too much play in that linkage or...

    John Deere 550 Trans Temp

Got a 1983 JD 550 with the transmission getting hot (even sitting still at idle) new filters, fluid level okay. Any ideas on where to start?

    Cat D3 vs JD 550

Yes....slightly bigger in size. However, the 550 has a turbo, the D3 does not.

    Cat D3 vs JD 550

Guys, I'm looking at a John Deere 550 and a Cat D3B. I am assuming the 550 is a late 90's model....it has pedal steer. The D3B is an '86 model. Both machines appear to be in good shape. Both are Midwest machines. Wondering if there is anything I need to look out for on the Deere?
