Open Circuit 97' JCB Series 3

What is the wire number for the wire that is not connected? Do you have a service manual? Or did you solve the problem?

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

I replaced the plug today, soldered, shrink tubed, wrapped and taped the wires into the harness. The backhoe started right up and ran fine. I had no chirps from the transmission pressure warning. Thank-you all for your advice. Additional grounds to follow as time permits.

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

As Delmer predicted. I was able to locate the plug that the wires were attached to. It was the transmission pressure sender. I removed the plug and moved it into a better position to see it. As you can see, it is smoked! I went through all of the fuses and found a 30 amp fuse in place of a 10...

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

I am planning to add grounds as Delmer suggested. It certainly can only help. But what seems different from a passenger vehicle is that each circuit from the side console seems to have a wire that leads to ground/earth rather than just grounds going to a console ground or chassis. I imagine it...

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

I found another badly frayed wire. I think it is for the transmission oil pressure sensor. I got an alarm there periodically and this may explain why.

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

JCB Jeff: Thanks for the tips. I checked both of the harness connections near the loader control lever area and they were very clean! Not bad for an almost 25 year old machine. Since I had the console partly disassembled I checked the two near the base of the seat. Both of the harness...

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

Thanks LN. Mine is one of the 430001 or higher serial numbers. I see the table and wire numbers and effected harnesses. What I am wondering is where the wires actually terminate to ground/earth. I am expecting to find corrosion at that point. I wasn't able to locate it under the machine...

    JCB 215 Ground/Earth Problem

I have a 1995 or 6 JCB 215 Series 2. There has been a problem with the ground/earth for instruments in the console prior to me owning the machine. I am the second owner. I recently replace the radio and found that it will turn over but not start now and I have some lights on the console...

Open Circuit 97' JCB Series 3

Not for nothing but I chased a problem with my shut off solenoid a few years ago. Mine is a 1995 215 Series 3. It would start and run for a short time and then shut down. It would restart and run for just a few seconds before shutting down. Finally it just wouldn't start, just turn over. If I...

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

I don't know what to tell you Delmer. I think there were a couple of things going on here. Maybe while I was priming she was cooling. Temperature seemed to play a roll here. She improved a great deal after I changed the shut off solenoid and the first cable. The only thing I did after that was...

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

I replaced the wiring harness adapter to the shut off solenoid. She ran flawlessly today. I guess time will tell if the issue is resolved. Thank-you to all who offered their advice and wisdom to me in solving this problem. I am truly grateful to you all.

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

Jerry: that is on my list for tomorrow when I can work on her. I have not bled the injectors. Pumpguy: It had a little material in it but not much. Given what has happened since the machine jarred yesterday I may clean it again. The adapter cable that ran from the engine harness to the...

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

Cleaned the screen. Today I replaced the shut off solenoid and wiring connector. I pulled the consoles apart and found mouse nest (trapped 13 in the cab over last winter). No damage to wires from mice. She started up and I ran her for two hours. I scraped a rock while digging and the machine...

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

Pumpguy: I cleaned the filter screen on the CAV and then bled it using the bleeder you told me about. I noticed that the engine RPMs increase a little when I have the bleeder out and it decreases when I replace the screw. Is that normal or does it indicate a problem like a blockage in the high...

JCB 215 Series 2 Backhoe - Perkins Diesel Dies Under a Load

Today was encouraging. I didn't have a lot of daylight so I skipped the CAV filter and went right to the bleeder. I cracked the bleeder that Pumpguy told me about in the CAV and bled off some fluid. Then I actually removed the bleeder screw and bled off about six ounces of fuel. It was nice and...
