    JD 450 clutches

I didn't mean hitting a big old tree or rock at 5 mph in 5th gear but am sure we all have spun both tracks when dozing so start out gently at about I/4 throttle in first gear and be gentle. if that doesn't work be a little less gentle. This is where the "Operator" skill comes into play as...

    JD 450 clutches

Did you try tying the steering clutches back while they soak. Might help. Have broken them loose by bumping against something solid while holding both levers back. Might have to get a little rough with it. Not much to lose, if they don't come loose your going to have to take them apart anyway...

What scraper would be close to a Allis Chalmers 260 size, must be open bowl

AC 260 was probably one of the best early hydraulic scrapers built Ran one when they were new and bought one later for myself. Sold it to a fellow who ran it till the engine went tu and then he took off the engine and cab, transmission and made a hitch out of the frame and pulled it with a...

Red Hills Dirt and various ranching projects.

Assume you probably own thousands of them. If not get your money out, you'll learn damned quick.

Think I'd be tempted to limb up some of those trees to make some shade. If you have trouble with your dozer "hopping up and down" there's probably something wrong in the seat. Cows aren't lazy and most times they are a lot smarter than the people that own them.

I suppose the trees grow where the best ground is but do you leave "any" trees for shade for the cows? If I was a cow I'd love you for it. Looks pretty hot and dry.

    New to me HD11

When we used cats to farm with always took out plugs from bottom of steering clutches and drilled a hole in them, put in a loosely fitting cotter pin and bent one end a little and replaced plug. Cotter pin would jiggle around and keep hole open so oil could drain but not let in much dirt. Not a...

    New to me HD11

I'm sure Donaldson builds a dry filter that would be sized for that engine. Take the oil bath and pitch it and mount the dry one in that area and pipe it to air intake. Be sure to get one with a double element. If you think about adding a turbo be sure and get one big enough to handle the extra...

    New to me HD11

According to Norm Swinfords book on AC your HD11B ser. no. 3880 was built in 1957. HD11S does not show up in the book, might be an 11SA which was later and ag tractor. Dry air cleaner and turbo. Don't use EP oil in transmission, finals OK. Trans has big brass bushings inside cluster gears...

    cab for a 1972 d5

Lots of older 91-j farm cats around the Pacific NW in US. Most had a fabricated steel cab with AC. Built strong but not qualified as ROPS. You had to destroy one to get it qualified. These guys should be able to find one and ship. Probably cost more to ship than buy...

    1962 Allis Chalmers HD 16

bywaste------ Parts are no longer being made but Minn-Parr bought all the new parts from AC and have many parts avaiable but they also know how to charge. Many good used parts around. Steering clutch discs, bearings etc are all avilable aftermarket. A good source for used and new parts here is...

    1962 Allis Chalmers HD 16

Norm Swinfords book on Allis Chalmers lists the HD-16 from 1958 to 1970 bare tractor as weighing 34,500 for regular trans with 20 in pads to 35,700 with tourqe converter and 24 in pads. Probably add 8-10,000# for canopy and dozer and ripper if it has one. 16000H engine,844 cu in, 163 - 183 hp...

    Cleaning waterways

D610k---I Tried to get them to fit a .05 to 1% fall. IE 1%= 1 ft in 100. Have found here a 1% slope will cary silt in the water and not let it settle out but not so fast that they wash out. Sometimes not possible so we would go to a 1.5 for a ways to regain depth but had to be careful to...

    Cleaning waterways

Done lots of these over the years and if you "use what you brung" your D6c will work fine if you have a place nearby to waste the spoils. I used to stake them every 100 ft on center line and add cut at that point, then add some toe stakes for width where depth of cut varys and make a light pass...

    Working Uphill

SCRUBPULLER-- Another thing that I noticed was that the dirt was entering the can at about horizontal instead of having to rise up so it filed easy and really gave a load. Also kept the gougers or hole diggers off the finished grade. Not many slobbers at the top either. I guess the fact...
