Protecting Driver and Dozer While Clearing Brush

Well, let's hope that don't happen. If it did, I have a fire extingusher mounted on the inside of the cage with me but I'd grab it and be out the front. I "ain't" hanging around inside to fight the fire. I'd rather fight it from the outside.

what is the good and bad and ugly on the komatsu d31 2003-2010

I can't speak to the newer '03-'10 Komatsu D31s but I have a 1995 model that has been excellent. Keep oil & filters clean and no problems. Turns over less than a round before it fires right up. If the new ones are as good as my older one, they should be good.

    Dozer Rental

To answer your question we need to know what you will be doing with the dozer. Clearing trees will take one size of dozer while finish grading will take another size of dozer.

    Lesson Learned

Lesson learned - Saturday morning went to get on the dozer about 7am to doze some fire lanes around 60 acres we are going to control burn to reduce the fuel on the ground. When I got to the dozer I approached the back of the left track. Reached up with right hand and grabbed handle. As I...

    Komatsu D31P-20 Hydraulic lines

Guys, do any of you know of an easy logical way to add a set of hydraulic lines to a Komatsu D31P-20 dozer? I have a Rome offset disk that I want to pull to plow some firelanes up and down very steep hills. The hydraulic lines will be used to raise and lower the transport wheels on the disk.

    Dozer Storage Over-winter

Others are more qualified to answer than I but to answer your question - Yes. It also needs to be moved, turned and operated to keep everything from siezing up. KY is not that cold in early winter or late winter. Get that dozer out and work it some......

Protecting Driver and Dozer While Clearing Brush

sick&tired, That's the hard part, you have to enter from the front. Step over the front screen onto the hydraulic cylinder and onto the tracks. Since this dozer is for use on our farm, the access is not a problem. If it was a work dozer where I got on and off a dozen times a day, I might...

Protecting Driver and Dozer While Clearing Brush

I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but here are a few pictures of my Komatsu D31P-20. The PO added the sweeps and the cage. Unless a limb comes in the front, it would be hard pressed to get you. Now, yellow jackets are a different story...................

    Need cab for D5H

Jeff, Would this work ? http://cgi.ebay.com/Caterpillar-D4H-D5H-Dozer-Cab-Enclosure-/200511710744?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eaf6de618 It's not a factory cab but I suspect trying to put a factory cab on a non-factory dozer would be a major undertaking. I have a Komatsu D31 and...

Section for komatsu d20,21 and similar grey market dozers

I restore old military vehicles as a hobby. Occasionaly the clutch on an old Jeep will stick to the pressure plate. What I usually do, is to crank the jeep and drive it while pumping the clutch. Sometimes it takes only a few feet, other times it has taken a 1/4 mile or so. I have not ever had...
