Gehl 7800 / 7810 Controls - Fine Bucket Movements Difficult

Hi,

I am a proud owner of a Gehl 7800 (it is actually a Mustang 2105) and was hoping to get some insights from those familiar with the machine. I believe the 7810 and some of the smaller units likely were offered with the same H-pattern "Dual Hand Controls" (not positive).

Overall a very nice machine for its age with only 1200 hours from the original owner. Goes without saying for H patterns but you control the bucket by bending your wrists as the joystick is hinged. .

I do a lot of fork lift work and am really struggling with very fine bucket movements. Especially on the left hand control when raising or lowering the bucket. The right control seems to be a bit easier for me to make fine movements but it still is not all that great for very fine movements. In order to make very small bucket movements on the left control, I'm forced to place both hands on the left control. I also place my knee against the left handle to help stabilize it further. This is the only way I can make very consistent and very fine movements with the bucket.

I'm assuming this is not normal and the articulated movement of the bucket controls should be consistency smooth. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I'm fearful this may become a safety issue as I have a tendency to drop the bucket far too quickly at times.

And yes, I did try to lube up all the pivot points in the controls. The "stiction" appears to come from the long rod shaft that is either pushed down up pull up with the hand level is pushed toward the operator or pulled away from the operator.

Hi Ronsii, does NOT matter if full throttle or low idle. Just a difficult. In fact, I'm usually trying it at low idle.

I don't think the issue is how fast it moves. The problem is that I can't "feather" the controls to make very small, fine movements with the bucket. Basically once I apply enough pressure, it then moves the handle quickly. I usually can feather controls easily. Not in this case. I'm wondering if maybe I need to replace the cable controls.

I just hate to replace parts without knowing exactly the root cause of something. Hate to replace the cable controls only to find out this is the nature of this machine. Super fine or slow movements....hard to do repeatedly.
