hello power steering pump gone bad on my dump truck today , trying to identify the pump with numbers on pump and nothing is coming up wonder if any of you folks might have some cross reference number to look it up by thumbnailghj.jpg thumbnail.jpg thumbnail.jpg thumbnailmfghjurhdjd.jpg thumbnailcmgfvbj.jpg . truck it is a 1995 freightliner fld112 original dump truck with a cat 3306 , 8ll tranny and 456 rears I'll try to post pics, numbers on the pump back cower plate are ….fbu4103....139.18115......306913.... and I called the freightliner parts and they gave me a number the man was not very happy when I asked him what the part number was but he gave me 6814661701 . I looked that up and seems a good number for a steering pump . please let me know if you all have a good number to go by . appreciate your time thanks , I'm in central Florida .

Yes it is a Vickers V20 series, Is there a number stamped on the center ring. If so that would be the GPM @ 1200RPM.

Try Metaris in Forrest MS. They should have a replacement. Also you can try your Eaton hydraulic distributor in FL. Use the V20 part # for both of them

If all else fails take it to your local hydraulic shop they can rebuild them if they are worth their money.

This^^^ A V20 is pretty simple, most hydraulic shops worth their salt should have the cam ring parts in stock for nearly any displacement. Unless something really bad happened the priority valve should be fine. The Vickers pumps were modular for good reason.

have not yet found the pump , one hydraulic shop in Tampa is supposed to call me tomorrow Thursday see if he has it in stock or he said he can get a new one and use my sprocket and shaft and built it from that . in the meantime I opened it up and found the problem and it is on the rotor , splines are gone you can see it in the pics whgs.jpg wywey.jpg shaft is good however was able to turn it around and make it work I'm still want to get me a new one to replace but for now truck is back working .

I have a Vickers off a Cummins, oil pump driven in my shop!!

Really common for the old Fine Spline shafts/gears to shear that way, Detroit Blower drives have had all manner of spline design trying to stop that, just too difficult to keep lubed so does not wear.

This is the unit I have. Bought it new for a side job, guy paid up front for the parts some of which have gone away, was over fifteen years ago and have not ever been able to find him again. Like he fell off the planet, or his creditors finally caught up. Have no paperwork on it anymore and absolutely no recall on what paid for it.

Well just looking at the photos of the two pumps I see one problem, they are opposite rotation pumps.
See that cast in mark just above the word "Hydraulics" in DMillers photo? Now go back to the pictures of Morecam's pump. They point the opposite direction.

That in of itself would not be a deal breaker for me as if you are careful you can disassemble the pump and more or less just flip over the cam ring(the part with the cast in arrow) and the hub with the vanes in it(the part with the spines inside) and reassemble it and if the other ports are the right size and such then "Bob's your mother's brother"!

On a V20 you only have to flip the ring. On the intra vane style pumps, 25V 35V 45V ect. you need to flip ring rotor and vanes. The OP pump is 11 GPM @ 1200 rpm and DMillers pump is 6 GPM @ 1200RPM. See posts 8 and 9 for parts and service ect.

I missed the different flows, sorry about that!
I was more familiar with the larger pumps where the vanes had an angle on the edge that rode inside the cam and I seem to recall the rotors had ports in them to allow oil to pressurize the back side of the vanes.
