Ian Garrie from Gin-Gin here, do you have any ideas as to where to look for a problem im having with my Fergy tea 20 hydraulic system. was slashing fine and then the slasher would not go down when i moved the control handle, it has since gone down but does nor respond wnen up or down is used on the control handle, Oils at correct level and apart from finding the four bolts that hold the control handle onto the side of the diff being somewhat losse after tightening nothing happens. the p.t.o. rotates the slasher blade but no hydro lift. any ideas? Thanks Garrie.

Hi Garrie, Maybe with the bolts being loose , something in the internal linkage may have slipped out of possition . I dare say John would know about the internal workings of it .

Always interested Mate . How did you go with the fergy ,get it sorted ? .
Have a good look at the head studs on your fiat . As they are in the water jacket, they do suffer from rusting away if ,inhibitor has not been used .

That main P.T.O. cog looks like it could do with a bit of welding build up and machining, what would have caused all that pittig on the teeth ? moisture in the oil and worn bearing parts floating around?

Hi Guys, recently purchased myself a Fiat 60CI - in the process of carrying out some necessary repairs. Does anyone have a 60CI or know of others in operating order? I would be interested in an old machine for spares if anyone knows of spares/wrecks

I'll second that. The 70ci I had needed the threads in the water jacket helicoiled so the head studs had something to screw into. Had to use a magnetic drill and a long tap but it was good when finished.
The big four cylinder engine in the 70ci is a low reving torquey beast and will run forever if properly maintained.

However the steering clutches and final drives are a weak point if the machine has done some heavy pushing. Put a small magnet on a stick and poke it into the bottom of the final drive housing and see what comes up stuck to the magnet apart from oil. An early repair is a lot cheaper than a complete failure. When I got my 70ci years ago the bull gear bearing had seized on the dead axle and wrecked it. Getting the dead axle out was an experience not to be repeated!
