Looks good! when I came through the Rogers pass last winter I talked to some tanker drivers using those Michelins on their drives, the traction is really impressive.

I had open shoulder fairly aggressive drives and had to chain up to get out of parking area at summit. (14" came down overnight). They could just ease into it and gain momentum...

Good choice. The XDN2 might have been one of the best all-around, winter condition, vocational tires available. I hope the replacement is just as good.

How long before someone gives you crap about putting a drive tire on a steer axle? Lol
Well, it's a driving steer axle, does that make it better? His truck is 4x4

The process might be a bit of a chore. I am guessing but I believe the dealer will need to create a case file with legacy support in the service portal. The support department will edit the file in the software that runs the electronic system controller then the dealer will re-flash the system controller and the gauge should work. That updated software file is stored by VIN on Navistar's main frame computer. If you ever need to replace the ESC or It needs an update the gauge will still work.

They will need you VIN and probably the part # of the new gauge. We had Navistar add an exhaust brake to the ESC file a few years back. We are a sub-dealer. The dealer charged us around $400. Make sure and get an estimate first.

So, I called the "local" dealer today and they said they thought they could do it but they didn't know how much it would cost until they looked at the truck. The problem is that they are in another state and this truck is registered for "intrastate" only. They apparently don't have a mobile service option. Seems like they don't know really know what I was asking them to do.

Not sure if it helps:
I changed my MCS150 from intra to inter to take some stuff cross-country.
I used trip permits to get through the non-home states.
(You can change back after)

About five years ago we had a customer want an exhaust brake installed on an older international DT466 or 530 I don't remember which. I created a case file with what we wanted and a list of the parts we would be installing. If I remember correctly they charged just over $400 Canadian for them to update the ECM file.

Maybe I should make the trip there! It sounds like they are a little more competent than this dealer.

Meanwhile I'm trying to fix a few other issues. Occasionally, when I flip the switch to shift into low range, this valve leaks continually, even after the shift is complete. Other times it doesn't leak at all. Maybe it's sticking inside? Can I take it apart and clean it, or just try squirting some air tool oil into the line?

They are great on every surface you can imagine, except for gravel. They wear off like a grinder wheel if running a bunch of gravel miles.
They are winter only use. I'll be putting the Ironman 402s back on once the snow is gone.
