My plan has come under criticism from many.
I don't see a problem provided your posts cant fill with water, and your wall studs and plate are well secured. You might be pushing your span tho. What is that span? and your rafter spacing? Are you doing metal or shingles?

Posts have a 1" hole in base plate, another 2" above in the 6" square tube. I think they were 5/16" wall, but hot dipped galv, they grew to 3/8". Our soil is rock only, big gaps between Never seen a puddle here. We have a lawn only by hauling in topsoil, sand & manure.
It is all welded together. I beam is 10 X 6" 22 pound per foot 13' span between posts. Rafters are 2 X 12 24 16" on center. actual span between the walls is 21'. Plan on 3/4" plywood & asphalt shingles.

Well I'm about 50 miles due west of you. Your probably at a snow load of 50lbs/sq ft like me. You may want to double those rafters up at a 21' span if your not doing metal for the roof, but thats just going by the beurocratic numbers :) . Just something to look at. Looks good. It'll be a lot more useful space.

Somewhere between me & my son in Rock City Falls. Other son adds SH instead of C for Rock City Falls.

I ain't scared. The shed other end of the garage has 20 foot rafters 2 X 8. It only spans 17 feet. No evidence of sag. Main building is 26 feet wide, 20 foot 2 X 8 held well 30 years. I confess the quality of 2 X 12 has me concerned. I may chicken out, sister them up.

Don't think you have anything to worry about with rafters. Used to frame big "home show" houses when a youngin'. Lots of cathedral ceiling family rooms, 24' 2x10 doug fir rafters 16oc, only time we doubled rafters was for skylights and that's for Buffalo Lake Effect snow machine load. Not to dismiss the New England snowfall but ours is a serious stress test.

The quality of 24’ lumber around here has taken a dump.
Only thing good is SYHP and it’s coming from down south.

Not doing anything yet, fixing er up. I just like backhoes so here’s a couple pics. Toying with the idea of tint, so I photoshopped some on it’d be nice here in the high desert I think.

Ugh! Had electrical problems. Shuttle started shifting sluggishly and at times not at all. Hazard light would come on and battery gage would die whenever in forward or reverse. Weird stuff. Found the shuttle relay to be no good. I bypassed it but I also found the ground wasn't properly grounded. I think that was my main problem. Seems good now.

Thanks T-town!

Was an especially good thanksgiving this year! As is customary, the turkey and the sides cooked outside. Of course, we had a bonfire too.
Dutch ovens for the sides, and deep fryer for the bird.

My old hoe makes her own grease :D :D :D

Belated happy thanksgiving to all!

Hey T-town,
Was in T-town on Saturday. The family went to Bennies Nursery for a Christmas tree. Some operation. They are big fans of John deer. Lotta green machines moving around the farm!

I plan to do another status update on the building, but the garage door guys have been here 4 times so far and they have still not fixed the door :( . Getting a little aggravated cuz they keep asking for the final payment even tho they are not done.

Some recent pics.

As you can see, I have been installing some foamboard.

The excavator and hoe are snuggling nicely:) The stuff on the trailer is a 12k auto lift.

You can never have enough barn
Agree, big time!! I wanted a lean too, but was out of $$$. I have wanted a place all my life, so I cannot complain one bit. This is great compared to working on stones!

Looks great Swetz.... shame about your door. Amazing what they get for that foam board :(

Yeah the Barziloski's have been growing trees for near 100 years.... were you at the farm up on the mountain ( the main spot) or south of town along the river?
Don't know if they still do it but in the past they hauled trees into NY city and sold out of lots...sure they made a killing. Their mountain place is on the flank side of Miller Mt..... which is now owned/managed by the state. The dirt road past the farm goes over a ridge and into an area called Thurston Hollow.... beautiful place!
We chugged by the river spot on Sat as we rode the Santa train out of T-town with the grandkids. 'Tis the season for sure.... and now a bit of white stuff for tomorrow.
I'm late getting snow stuff ready ;)

.... And as far as the green machines at Bennies..... another family in town owns/runs Bartron's ... JD Ag dealer and Bobcat too.
Had all the current folks in class at one time or another.... life in a small town!!

...and you can always add the 'leaner' later...

Defiantly on the side of a mountain! My son was winded pushing his son in a stroller...LOL

We saw a train, and people walking to board it. My wife wants to do it now too.

Yea, I need to start my plow truck. I haven't done that in a while.

Bennies did have some Bobcat side-by-sides as well :)

Yes, I may add the lean too some time in the future. Would be handy. I don't even need a floor or to have it closed in. Just something to keep stuff out of the weather.
