An 7220 American "Cherry Picker" had been flirting with "Old Man Winter" on top of Harris Cr. 1400 in late Fall . One night the snow level dropped down to the valley bottom , it was time to get the Loader off the hill top . It was an interesting day . I was following the lowbed around as the "Push Truck" . While we were getting the Loader off HC 1400 , the snow was piling up on the "Gordon River Summit" (always a snow belt) on the Gordon River M/L. By mid morning the Camp was shut down for the rest of the day . By the time the Lowbed had been snubbed down to a lower level on HC 1400 , the snow in the Upper Harris was turning to slush . Lowbed driver Tom Worth headed down the Harris Cr. M/L to the mouth of the San Juan River near Port Renfrew , then headed up the Gordon River M/L . The lowbed dropped the "Cherry Picker" off at Bugaboo Cr. several miles up the Gordon River M/L . Tom headed up the Gordon R. M/L towards the Gordon R. Shop . If the road conditions got bad he would let me know . I stayed with the "Cherry Picker" and got loaded . When I got to Gordon R. Shop there was but a bit of shush on the road , I figured that I would continue . If the going got to bad I would find a wide spot and park the truck . When I got to the Gordon R. Summit , there was snow on the road , but I was still cutting through to the gravel . A couple of miles down along Sutton Cr. , your out of the Snow Belt and it was clear sailing . I got to Honeymoon Bay DLS just after 3:00 . I parked the loaded truck there , the biggest challenge of the day was finding a ride from Honeymoon bay home to Duncan , as all the commuter Buses had already left for Duncan .Moving the iron down the mountain before the snow locks it in for a month or two?
