I was in a 05 KW that was perfect for the job.
With only 260,000 original miles its only issue was CARB related.
As for the batteries in the cab?
I think it's a heat issue and the limited or lack of space.

I don't think the batteries in that space are such a terrible idea, since all that ever gets put there is junk and water from the floorboards gets in there and rusts said junk anyway. What I do think is bad is the fact that 4 bolts and the whole seat have to come out of there to get at them. There should be some kind of a quicker way to get in there. But it probably would be better to put them in between the frame if possible for the type of truck.

This truck runs so damned hot that you will singe the hairs off of your sack if you wet a tire on the right side.

I sure don't like the idea of having batteries in the cab, with the gases produced by charging and the possibility of battery acid leaking if in an accident. Perhaps they are dry cell batteries, but the arcing that could result during a serious crash that close to the driver makes me uncomfortable.

I agree at least on principle. Maybe technology has improved but they have a sticker saying sealed type battery only. They are a much more expensive type of battery. I think the one I saw had Optimas in it. Of course, it would not be a very big job to make a holder and some cables to mount it between the frame if you really wanted to anyway. You could make a door and return the space under the seat to its normal usage of carrying junk.

I have a 70 ton 9 axle lowboy a 2x2x2 and i can only scale about 110000 to 115000 in all 48 states. Mainly cause of the axle weight restrictions on some states. But sometimes I can make it work out.

The white one is a 1990 Superliner with a Mack E-7 400, 13 speed, 44K rears on Camelbacks, and double frame. The red / black one is a 1979 Superliner with a Cummins KT-450, 15 speed OD, 55K rears, and double frame. I drive them myself to move my equipment and pull an occasional dump trailer they are old but they both work right on and on.

Id love to have an old super dog with a 35 ton detachable, maybe someday I will be able to justify it! Keep the pics coming.

Let me guess. The Ford won't pass DOT inspection, so you haul it to the pit, load it with rock, and haul it to the job site!!!
