Cool pictures Tiny & thanks for sharing them. I'm guessing the old Ford had the 534 gas engine in it?

My first tractor trailer looked just like that, except it seems like the hood scoop was a little taller, maybe not. It had the 534 in it, I forget just how many gallons per mile it got. I finally talked my father who owned half the company into agreeing to buy a 1980 R-model w/ an ENDT 676 in it. We paid for the truck in a few months w/ the fuel savings.

Old school way to make a bigger crane

Found this pic in some old photos and being as the company is gone I will show you what they did in 1965 when they needed a bigger crane ;)

Oh, heck, I thought all the old cranes came with that feature. My brother in law (75 y/o) has 2 22Bs and a 15B, they all have steel boxes filled w/ steel mill slag on the counterweights.

Few years back we did a major yard clean and deep in the back there were still 4 weight box's / concrete cheaters . Boss wanted those off the place before sundown .Guess he didn't know they were there.

He'd probably want to sell you one of his 22Bs, he says he's retired, he hardly ever works more than 60 hrs a week these days.

I don't think I posted anything about this job . Got a call from an outfit about removing part of a condemned structure on a building downtown . That building was the AT&T building and the structure was the old microwave antennas and the towers that held them on the roof .

Company used the biggest rig they had , M 250 , 300 ton crawler And 510 feet of boom . 190 ft main .. 200 ft of luffing jib ... 120 feet of fixed jib . I think that is the Max on boom length . It did work out that just one light wire that run a single street light was all that needed taken down ( A real surprise for downtown )

Also with the spot the crane was put on it had us laying out boom to the south and right across a bridge over I 70 . Nothing really wrong with that , just odd . It took 5 more days than were planned but a 20 MPH wind would put the crane out of service and the boom had to come to the ground .
