Running a case 921 without a stump pan

I am tinkering on a recent purchase a 921 case. Is it a bad idea to run one without the stump pan? It's much easier doing maintance without pan on there. Loader will be used for loading gravel only no stumps or big rocks to worry about. Thanks Snipe

You sure don't need my permission to do it??? I'd guess there's no way it adds to the structural integrity. How many old machines do you see with gaurds long gone, and no ill effects from it.
