Question about fluids

Why not replace it with the same fluid, assuming the Napa fluid is a hydraulic/transmission fluid? Do you really want to put $20/bucket oil into something as expensive as a backhoe?

You sure can use whatever you want, and if the fluid is changed regularly and not contaminated, then you'll probably never know the difference, but it gets expensive fast if something goes wrong.

I totally agree, busted a fitting needed 5 gallon to get level back in operating range. Used the 303, trying to figure out if whole system needs drained now?

I did a total fluid change on a JD loader, found that Mobilfluid 424 met all the needed specs, a local distributor would deliver a 55gal drum, no delivery charge, needed 65 gallons total for axles, trans and hydraulic, also got Mobilfluid LT for the kubota that wants Super UDT2, had to pour over data sheets to determine the specs were pretty much the same with a slightly lower viscosity at low temperatures. Al slghtly better price than napa and more confidence inspiring compared to the tractor store brand.

Gotcha, even more likely that you'll be fine.

If this is a combined hydraulic system with 20 gallons or more, then you're only able to drain half without taking hoses off, so all the more important to keep the fluid uncontaminated. If it's just the shuttle, then it can't be that much fluid right? and it's easier to change it all.

You don't say where in your 680 you are going to put it. Never ever put that cheap crap in the shuttle. TCH or its equivalent only. Case Hy-Tran Ultra is pricey but even better.
I would not use the Accel in the hydraulic system either. If you do some research on the Accel oil you will be hard pressed to find out whether it is an ISO or AW type. Then the true weight of it is a mystery. Living in Ohio you need to use a light weight grade to avoid cold weather starting problems.
