Lesson learned, stay in your vehicle. If you get out of your vehicle, get off the road.
that is word.
Wife was driving across Snoqualmie Pass when the road went really bad. It was like a coat of wet latex paint. We round a bend and a semi is jackknifed and pinning two cars to the right guardrail in a right turn.
she slows and then I see the next truck driver arrive behind us doing 55 and flashing his lights. I tell her to punch it and then dive in behind the wreck.
That worked. The truck got through the gap and did not hit anybody. We are sitting there and getting our breath, and I see this woman out of her car about 40' ahead of us, thinking she is going back to help. ???
I tell my wife " she is going to get hit" and maybe 15 seconds later a car loses it around the wreck, past us, and then dribbles her off her own car and then the guardrail for good measure. All right in our window.
I'm who I am and jump out and get her across the guardrail. The state patrol was already there and said I got this, get out of here. Damn brave guy, he climbed up the super and peeked around and told me to go go go. I crawled out of there spinning tire, and as soon as I could turn around we went back home.
We covered her with our car blanket. She had compound fractures of her leg.
Stay in your car!
